@v___sanchez I agree... social media can be overwhelming at times, and it doesn't help that it's seen as a distraction and addicting. Going over these steps can help anxious teenagers get over cognitive distortion that comes from being on social media.
@julietJOUR I think this a a cool new feature from Pinterest. Videos can allow users to see products/actions in the videos being used/shown longer and in a more clear way. Maybe instagram will follow in the near future.
@hykchora Over the years social media had become more and more vulnerable to the more difficult and important subjects, like this one, going on in the world. A lot of supporters come together for these types of important info.
@mixchaelh All the comments are similar and haven't really heard of the Metaverse, and doesn't engage in Facebook the most, which makes sense. Changing Facebook's name won't change teens' minds on using the app more and won't distract users from the "private stuff."
@sopheipalmer Fashion trends always comes and goes over the years, and I think Tiktok definitely helps make fashion a trend way quicker than other social media platforms. It helps increase views and influences old trends to reappear and new trends to go viral.
@hykchora Twitter does include a lot of cancel culture into its platform and if it was to be deleted, bullying and bad news will still be involved in social media overall, in other platforms.
@julietJOUR I've tried this hack a couple times and it worked pretty well for me! Tiktok has so many hacks and tutorials that adds to some of the positives of the platform and social media.
@sopheipalmer@VICE Tiktok has definitely overused songs, especially if that song is part of a trend. I have had songs that quickly get stuck in my head because of tiktok trends, and eventually I will get irritated of hearing it.
@mixchaelh I've been noticing a lot of hacked accounts lately too on Insta... There's hacking on social media platforms, but now they're turning to more personal information being imported into fake websites. Hacking is getting more and more scarier.
@hykchora I've definitely heard of "bones day" from tiktok! Tiktok has made Noodles become a trend quickly, in which it indeed does spread some positivity within the app.
@julietJOUR The fact that the article clearly states this new app is a rip-off of Twitter isn't good...and it hasn't even came out yet. It will definitely get known quickly, but maybe not in such a great way the app makers anticipated?
@ashleycamarenaa I love how Twitter is encouraging more healthier online behavior...I agree, social media has become more toxic in the recent years, and seeing more platforms encourage better online habits brings hope for the community.
@v___sanchez “It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it.”He's wealthy for sure, but this abundant amount of money is corrupting him and his company. As stated in the article, "It's more than a PR problem."
@julietJOUR This trend allows us to reflect and remember life in our younger years, and it's crazy how we learn that we aren't so different as people with our nostalgia, even though we grew up in different places and ways. This content gets more views because we can relate to it more.
@hykchora I totally agree with you... Also, the 3rd new measure, "Take A Break," will be a great way to remind young users to get off social media after being on it for a long period of time, as social media can become very distracting in a present moment.
@mixchaelh Deepfakes and hacking is getting more and more of an issue, and needs to be stopped. It negatively affects the victim's emotions and personal lives. Scams are more of an issue today too, with social media and even phone calls.
@hykchora@voxdotcom "shortening our attention spans and making us more distracted..." I agree, as being on social media, we easily become distracted for hours, and we quickly focus our undivided attention to our devices.
@julietJOUR It's sad to think that a well-known company will almost "promote" insecurities in teens, especially knowing that such stereotypes have been known to steer teens' emotions in a negative way. Even more sad as social media is the cause of teens' depression.
@mae_kail@verge "the resulting audio realistic to fool even friends and family..." This raises some red flags for me, as one's voice could be used for deep fake and misinformation, making fake news an even bigger issue in the future.
@mixchaelh Promoting one's company on different social media platforms allows companies to gain publicity, while connecting more with the public/customers. This shows how social media does have positive impacts on businesses, and how fast it can spread information.
