This morning, alongside Executive Mayor @nasiphim and MMC for Utility Services Cllr Frans Boshielo, I joined the official handover of the refurbished Mooikloof Substation in Region 6, a R70.3 million investment in the future of our city.

This 132/11kV substation now serves approximately 7 000 households, including Woodlands Estate, Woodhill, Mooikloof Estate, the Atterbury Precinct, and NetCare Hospital, restoring 105MVA of operational capacity that was lost to years of fire damage.

As MMC for Finance, I am proud that this project was delivered at 100% expenditure, every rand accounted for, every rand put to work. Beyond the infrastructure, this project created approximately 70 jobs and channelled over R3.5 million to local SMMEs in our communities.

This is what responsible financial stewardship looks like, ensuring that public money builds real, lasting infrastructure that improves the lives of our residents and attracts investment into Tshwane’s eastern corridor.

President @CyrilRamaphosa has in terms of section 91(2) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa,1996, removed Minister Sisisi Tolashe from the position of Minister of Social Development.

In the interim, President Ramaphosa has appointed Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities Sindisiwe Chikunga as the acting minister in the portfolio pending a full-time appointment in due course.
