@GaryMarcus Predictive latent space learning absolutely predates JEPA, and historical credit matters. But “JEPA is just PMAX” collapses 30+ years of advances in scale, architectures, optimization, video learning, and world model integration into a single equivalence claim
@araghchi National pride is not a strategy. If estimates of the total cost of Iran’s nuclear programme approach $1-$2 trillions in opportunity cost, then the real question is whether it has made Iran safer or more isolated, what exactly is the strategic end state?
@ebarenholtz You’re conflating explicit simulation with world modelling. No one is arguing intelligence requires a literal 3D physics engine in the head. A world model can be latent and predictive encoding where I am, what’s happening, and what will happen if I act.
@ylecun@elonmusk@farzyness I agree with Yann, once you see JEPA architecture and try to build world model of any process, you can not unsee the fact JEPA and JEPA like architectures are not the future, including agentic AI
@emollick A lot of effort goes into making systems look human-like and theatrically intelligent, while the underlying structure remains fragile and largely useless.
@DrRosena Failure happens, get it. But mismanagement of major incident, lack of communication, last minutes changes ( there is no train, this is the last one, ah now this Edgware, oh no this now Barnet) sending people to a location knowing there is no service is a crime.
@DerrickEvans4WV False. Childhood vaccines have gone through placebo-controlled trials. For example, the rotavirus vaccine was tested in a 70,000+ infant placebo-controlled RCT:

@trussliz Even if a country is self-sufficient in energy production, it doesn’t guarantee cheaper prices domestically because energy commodities like oil, gas, and increasingly electricity are traded on international markets. Prices are influenced by global supply and demand.
@MyLordBebo This is old known as Sofagate a diplomatic incident that occurred on April 6, 2021, during a meeting between European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Charles Michel, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara, Turkey
@Grady_Booch@CrowdStrike All drivers has to go through MS WHQL process. It seems CrowdStrike managed to find a way around that process (for speed and agility) by changing the behaviour of the approved driver using a definition files that is not included with the driver but processed by the driver.
@nntaleb I’m not certain of the term for it, but I’ve noticed the same phenomenon. The intensity seems to vary throughout the day, being most pronounced in the early morning.
