I wear CEO, Programmer, Organiser, occasional Artist and Designer hats while working on The Drifing Crown with the indie dev team at Sponge Hammer Games.
Happy Saturday! I have some screenshots from our tiles for you today. In the game, as you play, you get cards which you then place on your board, which is your map. This way, you build the world you are playing in. These are a sample of the cards you'll be playing. #indiegame
Generative AI is not what companies make you believe it is. It's not an auto magic coding/art/movie-making machine... It is not in a position to be used in place of a skilled person. (Not yet anyway) It enables you to make the wrong calls and decisions. And then... consequences.
The day after the CEO lays off a ton of staff and says:
“Non-technical teams are now pushing code to production with AI”
@coinbase has a major outage on their trading engine, and even their status page doesn’t work.
😂
We are super excited to attend #digitaldragons in Krakow in a few days. You'll get to meet devs (who are not me for a change) and chat to them. Also you can try our game before Steam Next Fest. Looking forward to showing you the game.

This is The Drifting Crown, an upcoming indie roguelite game made by our seven-person indie team using Unreal Engine. We are looking for people to support us by wishlisting the game on Steam and joining our Discord.

Audio is overlooked—but it shapes everything.
Our Audio Person uses Unreal’s Metasounds for dynamic music & logic.
Everyone else is afraid to open those graphs 😅

Dev Diary: New rocks.
I know — rocks aren’t exactly headline material.
But when you’re a small team, small improvements matter.
Our game officially rocks 100% more now.
I’m not apologising. 👀

Indie dev is small steps: fix, improve, repeat. Just like a roguelike.
Devlog #1 —
Enemies hanging out instead of attacking… until they remember their job.
They don’t take breaks anymore.

Into rougelites, world builders and adventure games? This is for you. Let's rebuild the world one tile at a time and, in doing so, save the pub. Also, there will be things trying to get you. Wishlist on Steam! #indiegame#roguelite#Steam
Yess! Our game works on a Steam Deck. We are way off from proper support, but it's a great first step! Small wins. :)
Demo coming to Steam in the summer.

If you need fast triplanar mapping in Blender, this node setup does the job.
I’ve been using it when testing geometry before bringing assets into Unreal.
Nothing fancy — just a small workflow win.

Two screenshots from The Drifting Crown:
One pretty. One full of debug chaos.
Most days, I live in the chaos. Progress adds up. 🎮 #indiegames#unrealengine#gamedev
Exciting times! First playtest of our game The Drifting Crown. We are well prepared: we have beer mats. :)
Also Christmas is coming!
