BREAKING: Azerbaian’s President Aliyev announced he has donated one million USD to the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) from the Presidential Contingency Fund. This donation comes the day before a UN mission visited the Artsakh region.

The UN mission reported that during their visit to Stepanakert, they observed no visible damage to public buildings, and there were no signs of violence against civilians following the latest ceasefire. They estimated that between 50 and 1,000 ethnic Armenians remain in Artsakh.

The UN emphasized the “need to build trust and confidence for the local population’s potential return and called for the protection of their rights.”

The UN’s biased report is countered by actual photo and video evidence showing damage to civilian homes and belongings and the number of human lives taken by Azerbaijan’s ruthless attack against Artsakh.

Also they “are struck” by the decision of the locals to flee, they expected them to be starved, terrorized, killed and attacked further. 🤐

My husband, Ruben Vardanyan, the philanthropist, businessman, and former Minister of State of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) was arrested and detained by the Azerbaijani authorities at the border this morning as he tried to leave with thousands of Armenians.

Ruben has stood with the Arsakh people during the 10-month blockade and has suffered with them in their struggle for survival.

The Lemkin Institute will never allow today’s world leaders to forget their complicity in destroying a 4000 year old people and civilization in Artsakh.

There’s no “genocide prevention” in the US, the EU, NATO, or the UN, despite all the trainings, symposia, books, and speeches. We had hope that in this one instance, this perfect storm for Genocide Prevention, there would be that one courageous voice in a position of serious power who would do the right thing.

But, of course, we have no real leaders in the world today. They have no fear that they will one day be targeted by this horror, so they don’t much care. They go to sleep in smug comfort. It’s really up to the ordinary people of the world to unite and bring an end to this never ending lust for power and resources that destroys everything in its wake.

No ordinary people benefit from genocide. Not one ordinary person in the world benefits from the heartbreak of the old man in this photo. Even if their criminal leaders tell them they do, they don’t. What did they trade for this great chance to participate in genocide? Freedom? Dignity? Rights? Transparency? Good governance? Morality? All of the above? No, they do not profit.

But there are many people in global capitals, at BP, in governments who are already reaping the benefits! And wow, what benefits! Resources, access, power! Who cares if a 4000 year old civilization is lost forever?! Armenians be damned!

We must all unite to change this equation — and we must do so fast. #prosecutecomplicity

Older people who saw at least 4 huge wars in the last 30 years say that the September 19 attack of Azerbaijan was the most brutal and deadly one they ever saw.

9-year-old Areg asked this in a bunker when Nerkin Horatagh was being heavily bombed.

When things got calm, Areg's grandmother left for warm clothes; he followed her. They were both bombed and killed.

Areg won't be alive after the war.
