STUDENT SHOT AFTER COLLEGE GRADUATION IN DAVAO DE ORO
JUST IN: A student was wounded in a shooting outside the Kolehiyo ng Pantukan campus in Davao de Oro on Thursday, June 25, shortly after the graduation rites.
“Based on initial reports, the incident took place outside the school’s jurisdiction and did not occur within the campus grounds. The LGU is currently coordinating closely with law enforcement authorities and other concerned agencies to support the ongoing investigation and ensure that those responsible are held accountable in accordance with the law,” the Pantukan municipal government said in a statement.
13. The "Customer Proximity"
"I feel too far removed from the customer. I want to work in a product-led organization where engineers actually talk to users. I miss having that empathy loop to guide my technical decisions."
Why it works:
It shows product sense.
It proves you care about the "why," not just the "how."
It marks you as a senior thinker.
14. The "Mentorship" Gap
"I’m often the most senior person in the room. I’m looking to join a team with engineers who are smarter than me, so I can be challenged and continue to grow my skillset."
Why it works:
It shows humility.
It shows a growth mindset.
It tells them you respect their team's talent
10. The "Financial Instability" (Layoffs)
"My current company is going through significant restructuring and uncertainty. I’m looking for a stable foundation where I can focus 100% of my energy on building great products, rather than worrying about the next quarter."
Why it works:
It’s honest without being dramatic.
It shows you value focus.
It frames stability as a productivity tool.
8. The "Leadership" Step Up
"I’ve been acting as a lead informally for the past year mentoring juniors and reviewing code. There isn’t a formal headcount for a lead role there right now, so I’m looking for a position that officially matches the responsibilities I’m already handling."
Why it works:
It proves you are already operating at the next level.
It shows you are ready, not just hopeful.
It validates your seniority.
7. The "Agency to Product" Move
"I love the variety of agency work, but I miss the depth of product work. I want to stick with one problem set for years, iterate on it, and watch it grow, rather than handing it off and moving to the next client."
Why it works:
It explains a common career transition.
It shows long-term commitment.
It highlights a desire for depth.
5. The "Pace" Adjustment
"My current organization moves very deliberately. I’m looking for a faster-paced environment where shipping and iterating happens weekly, not quarterly. I do my best work when the feedback loop is tight."
Why it works:
It’s a diplomatic way to say "they are too slow."
It signals high energy.
It appeals to startups and agile teams.
4. The "Ownership" Shift
"I currently work in a very large team where tasks are siloed. I’m looking to move to a smaller, leaner environment where I can own a feature from end-to-end and see the direct impact of my code on the user."
Why it works:
It shows you want responsibility.
It filters out micromanagers.
It highlights "impact" over "output."
3. The "Tech Stack" Upgrade
"I’m grateful for my current role, but the tech stack is legacy. I’ve been upskilling in [New Tech] on my own time, and I want to join an engineering culture that is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with these tools."
Why it works:
It shows you are a self-learner.
It proves you are future-proof.
It justifies the move logically.
2. The "0 to 1" Builder
"My current company has moved into 'maintenance mode.' I thrive in the 'build phase' where I’m creating systems from scratch. I miss the chaos of early-stage problem solving, which is why your new product launch caught my eye."
Why it works:
It clarifies your working style.
It aligns with their current need.
It shows you aren't afraid of hard work.
1. The "Growth Ceiling" Pivot
"I’ve hit a ceiling at my current role. I’ve mastered the core responsibilities and automated my workflows. I’m looking for a role where I can be challenged again, specifically in [Skill X] which your team is known for."
Why it works:
It shows high performance.
It frames you as ambitious.
It compliments their team.
