Shut the fuck up you stupid communist. You're actively sabotaging Hollywood with your ridiculous lawsuit that EVERY industry stakeholder hates. I've done more to move the needle on restoring Hollywood in the last 2 weeks than Bonehead Bob Bontas has done in his entire career.
EVERY regulatory agency on earth has validated the Paramount merger. Bonta is just inventing fake carve-outs to shoehorn his jihad into a routine acquisition you can only consider "illegal" by ignoring all of his big tech donors' activities, and the last 30 years of Hollywood reality. He had ZERO problem when his donor, Netflix, was going to be the buyer for WB. Bonta is weaponizing his office for politics and payback.
All of the theater chains support the merger, industry unions support the merger. Bonehead Bob stands alone with the communists at WGA and unhinged Mark Ruffalo. This is such a scam.
If Paramount/Warner leaves LA, they'll be fine. Their true value is the IP they own. The infrastructure can be moved anywhere and benefit from lower taxes and cost of operations. Lots can be sold off an rebuilt. Like any corporate move, the executive class can be transferred. The deals they make are vaporware - contracts and e-signs in the internet.
However for LA, it's a death blow. The infrastructure is already suffering with vendors going out of business and crew members quitting. The built in advantage of being a mecca for filmmakers with access to top talent, props, equipment disintegrates overnight. Studio stockpiles of props, wardrobe, cranes, cameras can truck over to Nashville or Austin. Crews can suddenly live in lower cost states and afford homes and schools for their kids. They may have to pray to Baby Jesus a little more, but a little Holy Ghost Power never hurt nobody.
This is not 1986 where you have to shoot below the roof of a backlot set. We can extend and digitally enhance anything. Setting up shop in business friendly, film friendly cities has no downside if the infrastructure truly moves. Every vendor benefits from lower cost of living for its employees, especially the struggling working class that no one seems to give a shit about in these culture wars.
A major studio leaving LA is a nuclear explosion that creates a chain reaction. Eventually other studios start calculating a 0% state income tax.
Rob Bonta has lived a life of academic insulation inside of a political bubble. He has no idea what it's like to set up a movie, try to get on a crew, look for a weekly freelance job in a fluctuating gig economy. No idea how fragile the ecosystem is. He's been sheltered inside of California Democrat uni-party as a kind of legal nepo baby, given expensive real estate with tenants he has never met. Now this incompetent moron thinks he can do whatever he wants with his 3rd Street Promenade.
I miss the Barnes and Noble there. Bonta, you'll miss the film business here.
@kpaapept3 AMC issued 95m new shares at $2 in June. massive dilution, considering AMC was trading around $2.75 at the time. If Aron thinks AMC is worth $2.10 when the market was willing to pay $2.75, believe him. box office doesn’t erase price CEO was willing to accept.
When CEO dilutes at $2 while the stock is trading at $2.75, he’s sending a message to the market: I don’t believe this stock is worth $2.75.
The market listens.
If CEO doesn’t value company more than $2 per share (0.20 PS equivalent), WHY should U? AMC @CEOAdam
AMC said today that we fully completed our $150 million equity raise, announced four months ago. It is particularly encouraging that the AMC share price has risen by more than 50% during this time, showing presumably that investors confidence in a resurgent Box Office outweighs fears about dilution.
This is such good news for AMC Entertainment on all counts.
This greatly bolsters our cash reserves.
I’ve said it many times:
Cash is King.
@Lseeyalater Hate to break it to you but when ceo dilutes at $2 per share, it is in fact a $2 company. Same reason the price crashed when they converted ape shares.
Bang bang bang 🔥
eBay $EBAY has $0 in purchases by board directors over the last 3 years.
This is the shit Cohen was talking about: overpaid executives with misaligned incentives.
Ryan, meanwhile, takes $0 in salary and bought ALL his shares with personal capital.
But mainstream media didn’t report on that once.
We support @ryancohen in the GameStop acquisition of eBay. $GME
💸California Just Lost $10 Trillion in Managed Wealth Overnight.
Charles Schwab — after 50 years building in California — packed up and moved to Texas.
$10 trillion in client assets.
A financial giant that helped millions invest.
Gone.
Why? Because even they couldn’t stomach the taxes, regulations, and costs anymore.
Newsom is losing it. He’s sashaying around the country in soft campaign mode, trying to spin his way out of an impossible plot twist.
The rest of us should be asking: how many more will follow before California admits the obvious?
You can’t tax and regulate success out of a state and expect corps to stay.
Vote with your feet — or watch the exodus continue.
What’s California’s breaking point? 👇
