From Day 1 of marriage, Saurabh started sending ₹25,000 every month to his parents.
No excuses. No delays.
Parents lived in a small town. Simple life. No demands.
8 years passed.
₹24 lakh sent.
Saurabh always thought,
“At least they are comfortable.”
In 2024, his father passed away suddenly.
While arranging documents, his mother handed him a bank passbook.
Balance: ₹29.5 lakh.
Every rupee Saurabh sent… was saved.
Plus FD interest.
Inside the passbook, there was a small folded note:
“For your children’s future. – Papa”
Saurabh thought he was supporting them.
They were silently building his safety net.
Moral:
Parents never stop being parents.
Even when you think you are the provider. ❤️
Glad to be in Udupi, a place associated with devotion, learning and tradition. The welcome I’ve received in Udupi will always be etched in my memory. Grateful to the people.
Do you know that we are like moths to a flame, drawn to the glowing screens of our devices?
Many are unaware that the pervasive blue light these devices emit can disrupt our natural sleep rhythms, strain our eyes, and potentially affect our long-term health.
𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁:
First, let's decode what blue light is. It is a part of the visible light spectrum, with a short wavelength, meaning it produces higher amounts of energy. Natural sources of blue light include the sun, which is why we feel so alert during daylight hours. However, the artificial blue light from screens can disrupt this natural rhythm.
𝗘𝘆𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵:
Our eyes aren't great at blocking blue light. This can lead to digital eye strain, with symptoms like dry eyes, headaches, and blurred vision. Long-term exposure may even contribute to retinal damage and other eye problems.
𝗦𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:
Ever found yourself wide awake after a late-night movie binge? That's the blue light effect, suppressing the production of melatonin, our sleep hormone, and messing with our sleep cycles.
𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵:
The impacts go beyond just tired eyes and sleepless nights. Studies suggest a link between excessive blue light exposure and obesity, heart disease, and even certain types of cancer, primarily due to disrupted sleep patterns.
𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘁 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀:
1. Screen Breaks: Follow the 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.
2. Blue Light Filters: Use built-in blue light filters on devices. These settings reduce the amount of blue light emitted. They are labelled as night mode, eye-comfort shield, etc.
3. Wear Blue Light Blocking Glasses: Consider investing in glasses that block or filter blue light, especially if you spend long hours in front of screens.
4. Manage Screen Time: Especially before bedtime. Try to avoid screens at least an hour before you plan to sleep.
5. Proper Lighting: Ensure your environment is well-lit while using screens to reduce glare and eye strain.
6. Regular Eye Check-ups: Regular visits to an optometrist can help catch any eye problems early on.
𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻:
In conclusion, while we can't escape the digital world, we can certainly take steps to protect our eyes and health. Implementing these recommendations can help mitigate the effects of blue light and maintain a healthy balance in our digitally dominated lives.
Remember, it's not about eliminating technology, but about using it smartly and safely.
