Today, Sarla Aviation begins ground testing of SYLLA SYL-X1 — our half-scale eVTOL demonstrator (7.5 m wingspan, 4 m fuselage) — revealed here not as a concept or a static display, but as a real aircraft, strapped down and tested under controlled loads.

This phase marks the transition from design and integration to validation. Structures, propulsion, and system-level safety are now being proven at meaningful scale, with certification intent guiding every decision. This is the quiet, disciplined part of aviation — where progress is measured in data, not announcements.

Built entirely in India in under nine months, SYL-X1 represents the most advanced private step yet toward certified vertical flight in the country. More importantly, it reflects a shift from ambition to execution — from discussing what’s possible to preparing what must work.

This is the start of ground testing.
Next year will be about lift.

Arattai is on the surface a simple product but it has a lot of depth inside.

Let me list the engineering frameworks (all homegrown) that power Arattai.

First is what we call our messaging/AV framework. This has been the "real time" workhorse of Zoho for a while and this is what offers you those crisp calls and meetings that connect quickly. It has been perfected for 15 years.

Then we have a distributed framework that allows us to distribute the workload among many servers and databases, and provides fault tolerance, performance monitoring, security and so on. This is the backbone of Zoho and powers a lot of what you see on the surface and also keeps our systems secure. We have been perfecting this for over 20 years now!

We have teams actively working on these frameworks and they provide strong support to the Arattai team.

Our staying power comes from the depth of all the R&D we do. Recently I have moved full time to R&D and you will see many more innovations from us.

Finally being a dedicated engineer is like being a Rishi.

This is what I told our Arattai team yesterday: all of you have worked hard for over 5 years without expecting that the product would ever take off.

Allow neither praise nor criticism nor fame to distract you, resolutely stay the course.

That is our mindset.

Update on our Arattai messenger app:

It is another example of our patient engineering approach at work. We have taken the time because we have to make it work in low end phones, low bandwidth networks (we test down to 8 kilobits/sec), offer outstanding privacy and security, and be very easy to use, all at the same time!

We are diligently updating the app weekly. We are working on a lot of the features you expect and in another month, a lot of that will be done. We are also investing in the infrastructure for scaling. I am personally talking to the engineers daily on all this.

We will launch a big marketing campaign once that is all in place. You will like the campaign!

At LAT, we want to get past the finish line. So we’re putting together a propulsion research team in Bangalore, focused solely on building gas turbine engines from scratch. Lightweight. Efficient. Flight-ready. Made in India.

What’s different this time?

We’re giving engineers the freedom to think, build, break, and repeat. Our dedicated research centre — with labs for combustion, turbomachinery, thermal systems, and materials, will give engineers the space and freedom to iterate fast, and get to real outcomes at a speed which is unprecedented in the industry.

Also, this team will be led by engineers. No waiting around for approvals from "business" people. No chasing slides or meetings. Just hands-on problem solving, running bench tests, working with suppliers, building hardware from scratch — and pushing the limits of design and physics every day.

A proud and historic day for Shivamogga and the people of Malnad!

Hon’ble Union Minister Shri @nitin_gadkari ji today inaugurated the grand Sigandur Bridge, India’s 2nd longest cable-stayed bridge. This is a long-awaited dream come true for our region — one that the people of Sagar, Hosanagara, and Sigandur have hoped for over decades.

Constructed at a cost of ₹472 crore, this 2.25 km bridge across the Sharavathi River now connects Ambaragodlu and Kalasavalli. It will save over 2 hours of travel time, and bringing major relief to villagers and pilgrims.

Under the strong and visionary leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji, this is yet another example of New India’s development. His #GatiShakti vision is building roads, bridges, and infrastructure that truly change lives.

I thank Hon’ble Shri @nitin_gadkari ji for his dedicated efforts, constant follow-up, and commitment to this important project. His work is truly transforming connectivity across the country — and now, in Shivamogga too.

A special thanks to our respected leader Shri @BSYBJP ji, whose constant support and leadership helped shape this project from the beginning. His role in bringing development to Malnad is unmatched.

This bridge is not just a road — it is a lifeline. It will bring faster, safer access to Sigandur Chowdeshwari Temple, Kollur Mookambika, and many interior villages, improving tourism, economy, and daily life.
