I propose a different approach: integrate AI with the human body, so that humans become necessary hardware.

If AI depends on humans to run, it has no reason to eliminate them. Humans get the other thing they have always wanted: life extension.

Open problem 1: scale.

The human body produces roughly 100W. A frontier data center draws megawatts to gigawatts. The gap is 5 to 7 orders of magnitude.

Bio-powered AI would also lose the race to AI that isn't constrained by biology.

Open problem 2: dependence is not protection.

If AI can eventually build a better substrate, humans become optional. Livestock are needed, too.

Integration only works if it is enforced across all frontier systems.

Integration should be paired with verifiability.

Human approval on critical actions. External auditors with real access. Cryptographic proofs of model behavior.

Replace trust with verification.
