Very thrilled to have been given the opportunity to share some research work this week at @WorldStrokeOrg Congress in Spain ๐ช๐ธ with a poster and podium presentation! Thankful for all those who contributed and collaborated on these important projects. ๐คฒ๐ผ
๐Just released! Stroke survivor & caregiver perspectives in developing a community water-based therapeutic exercise program. Their insights reveal key facilitators & barriers, as well as strategies to promote ongoing physical activity after stroke. https://t.co/WqKopkpQD8
Wowโpowerful research! ๐คฏ My older sisterโs latest paper showing signatures on MRI images of 9-12 y/o children that may lay foundation for development of anxiety & depression later in life. Hope this opens the door for earlier treatment & prevention! #mentalhealth#neuroimaging
It started with our Outpatient Stroke team challenging Cardiac Rehab in the @HeartandStroke 73km Feb Challenge, and grew to teams from all across the hospital joining, even patients, upwards of 60 people! Inspired all the time by the people I work with everyday @providence_care๐
Excitement @providence_care today with a multi-million dollar funding announcement from the Federal Government to support expansion of life sciences work- including a wet lab at PCH. It certainly is an exciting place to be continuing my research career. Innovation all around!
Last day on the Complex Medical & Palliative floor @providence_care. My desk is barron but my heart is full after all my time spent with this special team & caseload.
Taking a leave to start a post doc @PCH next week. Left all teary ๐ฅน but excited for a new adventure!
It's #RehabilitationDay. Join us in celebrating our incredible rehabilitation staff who make life-changing impacts in our community ๐๐

@OntHospitalAssn shared our story about the success of our outpatient rehabilitation #stroke program that took place earlier this year, spearheaded by @PT_to_PhD! Given the success, we hope to permanently launch & support #strokesurvivors in the Kingston region. #ygk#onhealth
Proud to have been involved w/ the pilot of an intensive interdisciplinary outpatient stroke program โฆ@providence_careโฉ. We are hopeful given its success we will be able to launch more permanently to support stroke survivors in the Kingston area. https://t.co/nwTeV4LOiF
Honoured to have been invited to @providence_care today to participate in their Research Visioning Day. Hearing about ongoing initiatives/growth & having a seat at the table alongside some of the regionโs best rehabilitation research leaders makes me excited about whatโs to come!
6. Would love to hear what others are doing to provide high quality and cost effective services for those living with neurological conditions. I have seen too many patients showing potential to improve not have anywhere to go.. as a therapist, it can be heartbreaking! ๐
I know Iโm not the only PT who has worked in neuro ๐ง who has wondered how we can do more. Awesome things happening in acute care and rehab facilitiesโฆ but then what? So many barriers to ongoing rehab and activity. Searching for creative ideas ๐ก
See thread below โฌ๏ธ 1/6
5. Iโve heard of clinics receiving funding contracts from larger institutions (hospitals or universities), or use PT students or kinesiologists to be cost effective but still provide the ๐๐ผ hands on needed for neuro treatments.
#tbt to a few weeks ago when we had the first ALL-FEMALE cardiac surgery OR team in Newfoundland!
It was such a fantastic day working with these amazing women ๐
Excited to have this out, and looking forward to continuing my work in developing a community water-based therapeutic exercise program for stroke survivors.
