“Brain fog” describes a real cognitive experience with several possible causes.
Poor sleep, medication, illness, mood, pain, irregular meals, dehydration and sustained cognitive load can contribute. Direct research remains limited, and validated ways to measure the symptom are still developing.
Establish the pattern. Record when it began, what changed, the time of day and any other symptoms.
Persistent, sudden or function-limiting symptoms deserve proper assessment.
Pre-eclampsia: What Every Pregnant Person Should Know
What it is: Pre-eclampsia is a serious problem that can happen during pregnancy, usually after 20 weeks. Blood pressure goes too high, and it can start to hurt organs like the kidneys, liver, or brain. It can also stop the baby from growing well. It can happen even if you feel fine. It can also start in the first few weeks after the baby is born.
Because pre-eclampsia constricts blood vessels, it can severely reduce the blood flow to the placenta. This starves the baby of oxygen and vital nutrients, which can lead to poor growth, low birth weight, premature birth, or in severe, unmonitored cases, stillbirth.
Severe pre-eclampsia can cause:
Eclampsia: Seizures triggered by high blood pressure, which can lead to coma.
HELLP Syndrome: A rare, life-threatening liver and blood-clotting disorder.
Stroke: Caused by sudden, extreme spikes in blood pressure to the brain.
Permanent organ damage: Lasting injury to the kidneys or liver.
10 Facts and Warning Signs
https://t.co/nFS68Ph7XB is common. It happens in about 2 to 4 out of every 100 pregnancies. Some studies say up to 8 out of 100. Hundreds of thousands of American families are touched by this condition. It is not a rare medical oddity; it is one of the most frequent major complications of pregnancy. Statistically, it impacts roughly 6% of Black pregnancies compared to about 3.8% of white pregnancies. Black women are significantly more likely to experience severe, life-threatening complications (like stroke or kidney failure) and face a maternal mortality rate from pregnancy-related causes that is three to four times higher than that of white women, with pre-eclampsia acting as one of the leading drivers of that gap.
https://t.co/1jJCSGXDoR can have it and feel okay. High blood pressure often has no symptoms. This is why every prenatal visit checks your blood pressure.
3.A bad headache that will not go away can be a warning sign, especially one that does not get better with rest or medicine.
4.Changes in your vision. Blurry sight, flashing lights, spots, or losing your sight for a moment.
5.Pain under your ribs or in the upper belly, usually on the right side. It may feel like bad heartburn that will not stop.
6.Sudden swelling in your face, hands, or feet, or fast weight gain over just a few days.
7.Trouble breathing or feeling like you cannot catch your breath when lying down.
8.Throwing up or feeling sick to your stomach late in pregnancy, when morning sickness should be over.
9.Some people have a higher chance of getting it: high blood pressure before pregnancy, diabetes, carrying extra weight, having pre-eclampsia in a past pregnancy, being pregnant with twins or more, or a first pregnancy.
10.The only real cure is having the baby. But there are things that lower the risk such as a low dose of baby aspirin for people at high risk, healthy eating, and gentle exercise. Your doctor decides if aspirin is right for you. Do not start it on your own.
What To Do
Do not wait. Do not talk yourself out of it.
•Call your doctor, midwife, or nurse today if you have any of these signs.
•Go to the emergency room or labor and delivery right away if you have a bad headache, vision changes, belly pain under your ribs, or trouble breathing.
•Say the word out loud: “I am worried about pre-eclampsia.” It helps your care team act faster.
•Keep going to your prenatal visits, even when you feel fine.
•Keep watching for these signs for six weeks after you give birth.
It is always better to call and be told you are fine than to stay home and be wrong.

We are in the very first chapter of mRNA medicines.
Preventative vaccines -> therapeutic vaccines -> broadly applicable therapeutics.
Delivery remains a key (but solvable) bottleneck.
Big things coming…

🚨 BREAKTHROUGH IN CANCER
Moderna + Merck’s personalised mRNA cancer vaccine has succeeded in Phase 3 in melanoma.
🔥 49% lower risk of cancer recurrence or death
This could be a major breakthrough for personalised cancer treatment.
And this may just be the beginning for mRNA in oncology. 🧬🚀

A new, experimental skin cancer vaccine by the US company Moderna has had positive results in a late-stage trial.
The mRNA vaccine, given to patients already diagnosed with melanoma, was given in conjunction with an immunotherapy drug and was shown to reduce the spread and recurrence of melanoma.
It boosted the share price of Moderna - famous for its COVID vaccine - by as much as 93%.
