#IndiaVietnam sign several MoUs enhancing bilateral ties during Vietmese PM’s India visit.

Indian PM Modi and Vietnamese PM #PhamMinhChinh also held talks to further expand the Indo-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership.

India has extended a credit line of $300 million to #Vietnam to strengthen their #MaritimeSecurity, anti-terror operations and cybersecurity.

India considers Vietnam a key pillar of its #ActEastPolicy and an important partner in the Indo-Pacific vision. The cooperation between the two countries will thus be key to countering #ChineseHegemony in the Indo-Pacific region.

Indian Govt has approved a major plan to build a new airbase in #Lakshadweep’s #Minicoy islands and extend the existing airfield on #Agatti island.

These airbases would deploy and operate all types of fighter, transport aircraft and long-range drones. They will be used by all 3 #IndianArmedForces as also the #IndianCoastGuard, naturally extending their presence and reach in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).

Since these would be #DualUse airfields, they will also be used by commercial airlines and thus also boost #LakshadweepTourism.

Moreover, #IndianNavy is planning to eventually upgrade Lakshadweep’s #Minicoy naval base for berthing large ships, incl. #AircraftCarriers.

India’s particular focus on Lakshadweep is highly strategic as it comes when #ChineseNavy is expanding its operations while colluding very closely with #PakistaniNavy in the IOR.

With this, India continues to be among the ‘#Top25 Defence Exporters’ nations in the world.

Moreover, to augment #AatmanirbharDefence, #Budget2024 has given the highest allocation, about 13% of the total, to the Defence Ministry with ₹1,72,000 cr earmarked to strengthen Armed Forces capabilities, ₹1,05,518 cr for domestic capital procurement. In addition, ₹518 cr is allocated to the iDEX scheme to fund technological solutions by startups, MSMEs & innovators, which will expand the #StartupEcosystem in Defence.

Bangladesh PM #SheikhHasina completed 2nd #IndiaVisit in a month. It is reportedly said that PM Hasina was keen to visit India before visiting China in July. During the visit:
– Bangladesh joined India-led ‘Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative’ for maritime cooperation in the #BayOfBengal and #IndianOceanRegion
– An Indian team will soon visit Bangladesh to discuss a project to conserve and maintain #TeestaRiver inside Bangladesh. They will explore the scope of financing Bangladesh for it. This offer is highly significant as #China is also eyeing this strategic project worth $1 bn.
– #IndiaBangladesh agreed to start talks on #CEPA (Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement) to advance economic ties.
– India will implement #UPI in Bangladesh, thereby strengthening use of #LocalCurrencies.
– #IndiaBangladesh signed 10 MoUs in the key areas incl. blue economy, #RailConnectivity from India’s mainland to #NorthEastIndia states through Bangladesh, jointly developing a satellite, transporting power from Nepal to Bangladesh through Indian grid, etc.

#Israel has a history of answering #attack on their #Country.

The missiles and drones attack by #Iran against #Israel is the first time ever in the 45-year-old rivalry that Iran has launched attacks on Israel from inside its own territory.

Channel 12 quoted a ‘senior Israeli official’ having pledged an ‘unprecedented response’ to the #IranAttack.

Interestingly, #USUK, France, #SaudiArabia and Jordan reportedly assisted Israel shoot down some of the 300 drones, missiles in the skies of Lebanon, #Jordan, Syria.

Besides, US has pledged a coordinated diplomatic response by #G7 nations, while Russian President Putin has warned US not to interfere in Iran-Israel tensions. #Russia has also warned, ‘If US supports Israel, we will not sit ideally and do nothing’.

Whether Israel will retaliate or exercise ‘strategic patience’ as then US #PresidentTrump did in January 2020 when Iran fired missiles at a US base in Iraq, time will tell. #ThirdWorldWar looms large.

After Vayu Shakti 2024, the #IndianAirForce successfully concluded the #GaganShakti 2024, a non-stop air exercise that ran 24 hours through 10 days. Tarang Shakti will follow later this year in August.

Gagan Shakti showcased jointness & integration in future wars as the #IndianArmedForces are creating joint #TheatreCommands. #IAF activated all its bases, equipment and personnel right from Ladakh to the Indian Ocean Region and Bhuj to Arunachal Pradesh for Ex Gagan Shakti.

Also, #S400 or Sudarshan long-range air defence system was activated on the Western & Northern fronts.

Besides, the Defence Ministry recently issued a huge $7.8 bn tender to #HAL to acquire 97 made-in-India #LCATejas Mark 1A fighter planes.

#ThirdWorldWar: Israel is responding with full force to condemnable terrorist attacks by Hamas. The Israeli retaliation may turn Gaza into a strip of ruins for harbouring terrorists, as promised by #Israel PM Netanyahu.

Although it started as an #IsraelHamasWar, the real conflict appears to be between sworn enemies Israel and #Iran, which is backing Hamas. With Israel’s very pride at stake due to the barbaric & humiliating attacks by Hamas, Israel may well be forced to attack Iran if the fighting stretches too long.

Besides, this provocation from Hamas and its consequences have a strong possibility of pulling #Lebanon, #Syria and Turkey into this conflict and may also force many other Mideast nations, as well as some superpowers, to take sides, thus widespreading the conflict.

Also, the social #polarization on the religious lines due to this conflict that is surfacing in the Western nations has the potential to cause unrest and riots across #Europe, the US and other places.

In his book ‘The Third World War’ written back in 2006, #DrAniruddhaJoshi has written extensively about the Israel-Palestine conflict and the overall situation in the Middle East.
