Celebrating the life & legacy of Richard Manuel, pianist & singer of The Band (1943-1986). No affiliations exist, I own no content. Curated by @bresfilms41.
Welcome to the Richard Manuel Archive, a celebration of the life & music of vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter Richard Manuel of The Band.
This is a continuing research project to define his legacy outside of his tragedy, looking at his life and who he truly was.
I hear the sad news that John Till has passed. Richard’s former bandmate and friend. Till was also in Janis Joplin’s band for a period.
Here’s a photo of Ken, Richard and John.
@bourbonsweet Patrick, thank you so much. You've been one of my biggest supporters since day one and I cannot thank you enough for that, or for your kind words here.
And we now come full circle, a year with Richard documenting important dates in his life, his expansive musical legacy, and the impact he continues to make in the lives of those who listen to him.
With that, the RMA is complete. Thank you all for everything.

One of the real hidden gems of Richard's career comes in this duet with his good friend Eric Clapton on the classic blues tune Last Night, which closes out Clapton's 1976 album No Reason to Cry, a full-Band affair. It's a stunning rendition, check it out.

@Cymbeline3 All good things must end, unfortunately. Thank you so much for everything, you always encouraged me to see and consider their music differently and the live tweets were such a bright spot of my Twitter experience!
@harryhew Harry, thank you so, so much. That truly means the world. Thank you for your support, and best of luck with everything you're up to, too. Your passion is truly infectious.
@TheBandPodcast I cannot thank you enough for the kind words today, and the support throughout this entire project. Keep up your amazing work, my friend.
