As this course has come to a close Iโve been slow thinking about how and why I use tech & social media. I find apps like twitter to be great tools for finding info & exposing myself to opinions/experiences I wouldnโt normally have access to. Hope to see yaโll round on here,โ๐ผ
It is difficult not to get scared by the possibilities of utopian or dystopian society related to tech. That's my fast thinking. So I have to stay vigilant to know that my emotions are not the same as the knowledge present in SMA. #LS461SMAReflection
@jazminemedina15 @adiaz461 @drcr461 But preferably instead of a smartphone, subject them to having to use a flip phone like I did when I was in middle school ๐ very limited
@jazminemedina15 @adiaz461 @drcr461 I agree with the age for a social media account! I do think though that younger kids (maybe 12/13) need a phone simply for safety reasons.
@mapayne20 Definitely, when you look at a company like Uber who now has 12,000 drivers working them you can see that job growth is a definite effect of digitization. That number is also growing along with a lot of other company's that rely on tech for them to flourish. #LS461
@sarahbattles07 @MattMo711 @anavera2017 Here's the role of science in society. Recent studies published on these exact Qs. Here is an informational text: https://t.co/K3ZYrhCgz6 Use your degree to expand your knowledge beyond college to stay informed for decision making after graduation and for life. #LS461CritReflect
This isnโt reflection related, but this popped up on my tl as a promoted tweet ๐ค Itโs an article indicating that digitization can actually cause job growth... I felt like this kind of related to my DL chapter, but in contrast #LS461SMAchp9 https://t.co/lgokP6Axa5
@drcr461 It makes me wary that if I were to incorporate it in the future, would it discourage my students, who use it that same way I do, from wanting to use it for school work. But then again is it beneficial for us to change the use of twitter like that? #LS461SMAchp13
@drcr461 For incorporating twitter, Iโm not completely against it! I think it may be useful for some. But because Iโm an everyday twitter user for my own leisure and personal life, Iโm not fond of it for classroom use because it starts to make me think of twitter as synonymous with work
@drcr461 I think flipping the classroom is a bad idea ๐ฌ Because I feel teaching should stay being the sole job of the teacher. We should leave that for higher education when students can make that decision on their own for specific classes #LS461MAchp13
Will they welcome it more than we do? Learn to work with it in ways we never thought of before? What innovations will they come up with? ๐คท๐พโโ๏ธ #LS461SMAreflection
Something else that I think will be interesting to witness ๐ง๐ค: how will the children born within the past few years react to and interact with tech when theyโre older? #LS461SMAReflection
They werenโt born with the same experience as us. For example: parents shoving iPhones in their faces for pics and videos, electronics incorporated in their schooling, tablets given to them to keep them quiet... #LS461SMAreflection
Iโm actually very excited to see what the future holds. Not so much the part where technology potentially replaces many jobs, but about the new ideas and how humans choose to work in harmony with new tech. #LS461SMAreflection
@mishhelle4 I agree with 1, 4, 5, and 6. Mainly number 1 because the children are the future!! We want to make sure they get quality education. #461SMAchp13
