FOREIGN NATIONALS FUNDED WITHOUT APPROVAL

The investigation showed that seven students who received bursaries from the OTP were foreign nationals, with six of them funded on a merit basis as top achievers. However, the SIU found no approval to deviate from the bursary policy, which specifies that bursaries are for South African citizens residing in the Free State. This resulted in an expenditure of R576 734.48.

RESPONSE FROM AIRLINK: HANTAVIRUS
@Fly_Airlink operated flight 4Z 132 from St Helena Island to Johannesburg on 25th April 2026. There were 82 passengers and 6 crew onboard.

On Sunday 02 May 2026, Airlink was notified by South Africa’s public health authorities that a passenger who had flown on the flight had passed away after she arrived in Johannesburg and that her death was attributed to the rare Hantavirus.

At the time when the flight was operated Airlink was unaware that any of the passengers were unwell.

In accordance with health protocols, Airlink provided the Dept of Health with the passenger manifest for contact tracing. The manifest included the names, contact details and seating allocation of the passengers and crew.

Airlink is also contacting passengers who were on that flight and advising them to contact South Africa’s Department of Health, if they have not yet already been contacted by the Department.

The safety and wellbeing of our customers, personnel and equipment is Airlink’s priority. Airlink operates, maintains and services - including cleaning - its aircraft in strict accordance with pertinent public health and aviation regulations and requirements. Criminals themselves will be funding the national organised crime task team led by Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

The money will come from the Criminal Assets Recovery Account, where the proceeds of crime are channelled after arrests and prosecution.

It means the team Mkhwanazi forms will be able to rely on roughly a billion rand to eliminate criminal networks.

He will get to form his own team, with members vetted and selected from across the country.

The task team will follow a model similar to the PKTT, meaning it will collaborate closely with the NPA to ensure prosecution-driven investigations.

Mkhwanazi is targeting, among other things, tender corruption and drug syndicates.

The team will be looking internally, too, to identify and deal with anyone who has infiltrated the SAPS itself.

Special focus will also be paid to politicians and any irregular influence on policing or the awarding of tenders.

He's given an assurance that KwaZulu-Natal will not be neglected in this process, as he takes on additional responsibilities. 

His deployment is initially set down for a year - until the end of March 2027.

This issue is simple @StandardBankZA. A pensioner’s money was taken from her account without her permission. That money is the result of years of hard work and sacrifice. It is not spare money, it is survival.

Public statements about fraud trends and references to institutions like the Financial Sector Conduct Authority or the Ombudsman for Banking Services do not solve the problem. The real issue is that the money is gone and has not been returned.

The responsibility of a bank is to protect the funds people trust them with. When that protection fails and money is stolen, the only fair outcome is for the bank to refund the stolen funds.

The demand remains clear: return the pension money.

How does so much money leave an account without it being flagged?! 😭 sooo many transactions on the same day and the bank doesn’t even flinch?? No ways this was definitely an inside job , Standard Bank has to account for this one.
