Our annual fishing contest was started by the Maple Lake Jaycees in 1975. February 8th, 2025 marks the 50th Maple Lake Ice Fishing Derby.

New this year at the Derby: There will be a Veteran’s resource tent/area this year sponsored by DAV. Check out “Roger-Up” a local dignitary Zach Johnson will be heading up this tent for anyone that wants information on Veteran’s affairs, or for any Vets that want a warm place.

Hey Derby-goers! Don’t forget to pack your ice cleats for February 8th! With the false spring we are having right now all of the snow is melting off the top of the ice and refreezing at night making conditions slippery. Please be safe and be aware!

Immediate release: Due to record breaking December and January snow in Central Minnesota and extremely poor ice conditions, the Maple Lake Ice Fishing Derby has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2023 festivities.

The @MapleLakeDerby announced this afternoon that vehicles will now be allowed for tomorrow's Derby. Please follow Derby rules while parking on the ice. Participants are still encouraged to use the available shuttle and trolleys that will still be available.

DERBY UPDATE:
AS OF 1.31.2022 MN DNR HAS REQUIRED THAT NO CARS OR TRUCKS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE ICE DURING THE 2022 MAPLE LAKE ICE FISHING DERBY DUE TO ICE THICKNESS.
