Amazing footage of a #mink investigating #watervole borrows (marked by flags), clearly demonstrating how easily a mink can access water voles and predate an entire colony with ease.

🌟 Our amazing volunteers were busy this week deploying monitoring rafts along the River Thame! 🦦 Excitement is building as we wait for animals will leave their prints in the clay pads within the raft tunnels. 🐾 #WildlifeMonitoring#RiverThame#VolunteerHeroes
This week our Advisory and Research teams held a very well attended #mink control training day, covering the research and development behind the #GWCT mink raft, best practice, humane dispatch and the #technology now available to assist control.
Thanks @JCaseNature
We've had lots of people sign up to https://t.co/gX3rmYFRo4 recently, but please keep adding your rafts! Working together is the only way we can efficiently control (eradicate...?) #mink using a strategic approach and it really is working!
We're now at that time of year when American mink are very active and juveniles are dispersing. Many locations in our trap network have had increased captures over the past few weeks and we're expecting more. This is a really important time to be monitoring and trapping.
We're always looking for folk to help with mink control - pretty much anywhere north of Perth.
We also need people in specific areas when mink are known to us. This time it's Methven nr Perth where we've had a number of mink sightings. Can you help?

A young fox checking out the fallen hollow tree followed by squirrel & mink. Some may say 3 pest species. Wrong! The squirrel & mink are not native species whilst the fox most certainly is and & a vital part of our natural eco system. 🦊🦊🦊🦊
Meet Bonnie - the mink detection dog!
Bonnie, Mirella (Bonnie's owner and SISI Project Officer) and volunteer Jon were joined by STV's @HaleyBouma to chat about our American mink control work and Bonnie's special talents at sniffing out these invasive predators.
Episode 9 - Habitat
Introducing our brand new educational video series, showcasing everything that you need to know about water voles and their predators. Our educational series will also be used during our local school engagement programme.

Unfortunately this is a mink, rather than an otter.
Demonstrates the need for constant vigilance even where #mink control is ongoing - there are #watervoles on some parts of the Thames in #Oxford , but for how much longer?
Pennod 8 - Minc

@bell100100 Thank you! They are beautiful animals, just sadly in the wrong place and having a hugely detrimental impact on our native species. Fabulous footage, thanks for sharing.
