Farmed, Not Represented
I live in Connecticut. I’ve watched homeowners open property tax bills that jump so hard they have to reread them. I’ve watched people stand at town meetings and ask how they’re supposed to keep absorbing increases when their wages haven’t moved. The board thanks them and passes it anyway.
I’ve watched nonprofits add staff, administrators, and nicer offices while the same people cycle through the same programs year after year. Public money keeps flowing into systems that never seem to fix the problems they exist to address. And every time, politicians on both sides blame each other.
That’s the lie.
Champagne socialists and country-club Republicans use different language and pretend to hate each other. But when it comes to who pays and who stays insulated, they land on the same side. Wealthy institutions, donor networks, and exempt land stay protected. The burden shifts downward onto people who work and own homes.
This isn’t new. Country-club Republicans once sold trickle-down to blue-collar conservatives with the promise that protecting the top would eventually help them. It didn’t. Wages stagnated and communities absorbed the cost. The same contempt is still here. Now it talks about “stability” and “business climate,” which in practice means don’t touch the exemptions and don’t reassess the valuable land.
On the other side, champagne socialists talk about equity while building careers inside systems that can’t afford for the problems to actually be solved. If people got independent, the funding and the jobs would shrink. So the system manages dependency instead of ending it.
In Fairfield, homeowners are told to pay their fair share while country clubs like the Country Club of Fairfield and Brooklawn sit on massive, valuable land, and schools and universities like Fairfield Prep, Fairfield University, Notre Dame, and Sacred Heart occupy large footprints. They use the roads, police, and fire services paid for by people who don’t belong to the club or sit on the board. When residents ask why the burden never moves upward, they’re told it’s too complicated or too disruptive. Disruption only becomes a problem when it threatens people with power.
Conservatives get farmed into defending “stability” that costs them. Progressives get farmed into defending “help” that never ends dependency. Homeowners get farmed into paying more. Protesters get farmed into fighting each other. The institutions in the middle—with exemptions, grants, and access—stay untouched.
Connecticut’s real divide isn’t left versus right. It’s between people who work, pay, and sacrifice, and institutions that extract and insulate. The moment people on both sides start comparing tax bills and exemption lists instead of party scripts, the arrangement gets harder to defend. That’s why this conversation gets framed as partisan. That’s why it matters that it’s said out loud.
Gas tax one of the highest in the nation, public benefits charge, car tax, all kinds of fees on any required licenses in CT (check your car registration fee and see how much of it is not related to your car.). High Income tax.
High sales tax.
$500M for covering ‘emergency cuts by the feds’… all for illegals.
Millions to planned parenthood and child mutilation.
Medicaid for illegals.
Section 8 housing for illegals.
College tuition for illegals.
Rent assistance and mortgages for illegals.
In the past 4 years , every year, every taxpayer in Connecticut has been charged $6000 , via our tax dollars, to cover all of Lamont‘s giveaways to the illegals in Connecticut.
That means that each of us has contributed $24,000 to a population we never wanted in CT!
VOTE RED IN NOVEMBER!!! SEND LAMONT HOME FOREVER.
@AlexPadilla4CA If they entered illegally without a visa then they are criminals. Stop gaslighting a crime is a crime is a crime. You don't get to pick and choose what laws you want to enforce. That's why their called illegal aliens, illegal immigrants, illegal migrants, undocumented.
@NedLamont@willefixit This is embarrassing. Do you respect the life of the police officer or the mom who died because of an illegal immigrant? These are just two of many victims in our state … do you respect them? Do you care about them?
@LukeBronin why do you think federal immigration laws should not apply to connecticut? why do you feed into that fear?
oh, and abusive is when people break our immigration laws & think they are entitled to stay & use up resources meant for citizens.

Just a thought….
Part of our LEGAL immigration is getting vaccinated! When unvaccinated people cross the border they bring disease with them!
This part of our immigration process and the reason for it is never discussed.
If you apply for a visa to travel many times YOU will have to get vaccinated!
Found out Democrat leadership has instructed their members NOT to sign onto the bill that would cap student loan interest at 2%… because it would make “Republicans” look good ahead of the midterms. When you put power over people you have lost sight of what Congress was supposed to be about.
🚨 Connecticut Republicans are demanding a PUBLIC vote on Gov. Lamont's plan to spend $5 million in taxpayer money to help immigrants losing Temporary Protected Status.
Their question: Why is this happening behind closed doors? 👀

Here are the names of the 14 America-hating politicians who sponsored the bill to create a Muslim commission that will infiltrate every area of Massachusetts law and government.
