@SolidEvidence@DrEleanore1 That's disturbing.
When the powers-that-be won't even allow transparency on WW analysis, how can the public have any confidence that they'll get an early heads-up on the next novel superbug?
That's some crap, literally.
@SolidEvidence "Who had Ebola and Hanta on their BINGO cards 6 months ago?"
I take it Hanta hasn't been detected yet in WW, as I don't see it listed on your dashboard.
@PatriotsPups@jhas5@FoolsMultiply If I wanted to smuggle a live bug in,I'd only place it in 1 of my 100 vials, carefully noting which one.
If checked, odds are they won't test them all,or their tests won't detect it.Even if they do detect it I can say " Hey! I scored 99% successful deactivation! Nobody's perfect!"
@caitoz Agreed. Been using lists for years, a half-dozen pinned at the top of my timeline, by topic. I "follow" zero accounts, so I get few followers in return, but that's not an issue for me.
Study looking at COVID variants through 2024 finds essentially 2 types:
1) Respiratory: replicates more efficiently in bronchial and lung tissue
2) Gut: replicates more efficiently in the small intestine
Later variants are gut dominant. 1/

Hiroshima University studied 6.2 million matched people in Japan.
COVID was linked to 4.14 times higher TB treatment risk, rising to 14.7 with prior TB.
This points to possible reactivation, not proof of cause.

@BillyBostickson@flavinkins Understood, but I think you'd agree that the question list would have looked very different had DEFUSE and other subsequent revelations been available at the time. At least I'd hope so.
In 2020, it was all Shi/WIV, all the time. It was never that simple.
@Denachtzuster1@jhas5 "Syrian hamsters are widely used... including by 👉Munster, but such laboratory imports are subject to strict regulations..."
Imagine Munster being stopped at the airport for hamster smuggling.
Could have been VERY embarrassing, depending on where they were hidden.
