Allowing Russia to compete at the Olympics would legitimize a state responsible for countless documented war crimes and some of the worst atrocities of the 21st century.

International sporting events are routinely exploited by authoritarian regimes to reinforce domestic propaganda, bolster international legitimacy, and normalize their conduct.
