My study on Gene Wolfe is finally in print. Had to do it myself. The hardback and paperback of Between Light and Shadow are up at last, published on Amazon by me with updated ebook. Beyond Time and Memory next week, By Sword and Spirit week after. https://t.co/8HE6Q2HY1W
@Halting_State Sizes - paperback is 730, 6 by 9. Couldn't get a hardback that long so had to do 8.5 by 11, 484 pages for hardback. 550 was max printing length for hardback but I didnt want you to need a microscope or microfiche to read it.
@writriverdale Well, restrictive information. "The coat that my father bought me" is correct, but it has to be "this coat, which my father bought me" rather than any old coat and which is then extra information or an appositive preceded by a comma.
It’s finally here! The long awaited Gene Wolfe episode.
It even came out on New Year’s Eve (something something symbolism).
@marc_aramini joins the show to discuss the Pringles Man.

@ReReadingWolfe@DOssuary Literal sacraments and eucharist ... the lynchpin of many works' subtext is buried in what I think is an explictly Catholic approach. Also, hierarchies, intercessions, etc.
@ArthurianConan@ReReadingWolfe It doesn't. Vance is fun. There are some really neat scenes (end of The Face, for example) but there is none of the theosophical numinous weight of Wolfe.
@AaronIrber@ReReadingWolfe War beneath the tree ends with a funny punchline after a somewhat absurd story. Anyone who laughs at and when they appear's ending ... not in the same universe. Man ... and when they appear is wolfe's most depressing story, without question.
@ReReadingWolfe Yeah reign of terror. Well most humans as cloned chattel with their culture appropriated by abos lacking any self-awareness or real understanding of what makes civilization work is pretty terrible (no new buildings in almost 200 years, sewage workers as secret police, mailmen
@ReReadingWolfe If august was named like september through december, what would its name be? An extra credit problem i used to give and wait for the chuckle of a student or two
