There is an epidemic of transgender violence spreading across the West. Today, a transgender school shooter murdered 9 innocent victims and injured 25 more in Tumbler Ridge, BC. My heart breaks for the victims, their families, and the community. But I can’t stop at condolences — we need solutions.

Look at the pattern:

Aberdeen Rite Aid Facility in Maryland.

Club Q in Colorado.

Highlands Ranch School in Colorado.

Annunciation Catholic School in Minnesota.

Covenant School in Tennessee.

Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia.

This epidemic of violence will continue until we change our society’s response to transgender ideology.

When people are a danger to themselves and others, the common sense solution is to treat their mental illness rather than affirm dangerous delusions.

I encourage parents and teachers to help fight the transgender violence epidemic themselves — since their government is obviously uninterested in doing so.

This issue is entrenched at every level of our education and healthcare systems.

If a minor in your care expresses a desire to transition their gender identity, help them. Offer compassion. Affirming delusions is neglect, not care.

Our kids are perfect just the way they are. So tell them plainly: they don’t need to change their name or experiment with harmful drugs and surgeries to be loved.

Real compassion is affirming their real identity — affirming that they don’t need to change.

I pray for the victims and their families. I pray that Tumbler Ridge’s community can recover from this traumatic event. I hope that one day Canadians can feel safe again in their schools, homes, and workplaces.

Let today’s senseless tragedy become a catalyst for love and healing.

Honnêtement, les événements d’aujourd’hui me troublent.

La mort tragique et brutale de Charlie Kirk, certes, mais surtout de voir cette bande de demi-civilisés, supposés être moralement supérieurs à tout le monde, se réjouir de la mort d’un père de famille. Je n’arrête pas de penser à sa femme, à son fils et à sa fille.

Je ne comprends pas comment des êtres humains peuvent être à ce point ignobles... pour des idées. Je ne nommerai pas personne, on a tous vu les mêmes personnes passer.

On peut détester les idées et, à la limite, le personnage médiatique qu’était Kirk, mais je ne comprends pas comment des gens peuvent se réjouir de la mort d’un jeune homme de 31 ans qui ne leur a jamais rien fait. Rien.

Ah, et les médias, avec vos formules comme “le controversé”, “le martyr”, “le militant d’extrême droite”… pouvez-vous juste vous taire et simplement donner les faits pour une fois dans votre vie ?

Si l’on observe aujourd’hui à quel point la société américaine est devenue malade et polarisée, cela doit nous servir de leçon ici, au Québec. Nous devons faire tous les efforts possibles pour préserver notre cohésion sociale et empêcher que certains discours, qu’ils circulent sur les réseaux sociaux ou dans les médias, nous enferment dans les deux camps destructeurs de l’extrême gauche et de l’extrême droite.

Ce qui m’a attristée hier, c’est de voir certaines publications et commentaires sur Facebook qui, sans nuance, ont banalisé et même ridiculisé ce qui s’est passé, simplement par esprit de vengeance politique contre les républicains qui défendent le deuxième amendement sur le port d’armes.

Je voudrais proposer une comparaison pour montrer l’absurdité de ce raisonnement. Certains disent : « Si Charlie Kirk a été assassiné par une arme à feu, eh bien il l’a mérité puisqu’il défendait justement le port d’armes ». Mais imaginez qu’ici, chez nous, une personne connue pour défendre l’islamisme — mettons Isabelle Haché, Louise Harrel ou une autre — soit tuée par un islamiste djihadiste, que ce soit dans un attentat, un coup de couteau ou même une décapitation. Est-ce que cela justifierait qu’on dise sur les réseaux sociaux : « Ah bien, elle l’a cherché, elle l’a mérité puisqu’elle défendait les islamistes » ?

Non. Ça ne se fait pas. Ce n’est pas un raisonnement digne d’une société civilisée.

Alors je vous en prie : un peu de nuance, un peu d’humanité dans nos publications.

I am told that as a state representative this is the moment where I'm supposed to express my heartfelt condolences and then stand in solidarity with those on the other side of the aisle as we condemn political violence and stand unified as one people.

But we aren't "one people" are we?

The truth is we haven't been for some time now, and there is really no point in pretending anymore, if there ever was.

We are two very different peoples. We may occupy the same piece of geography, but that is where the similarities seem to abruptly end.

I convinced myself for a long time that whenever the left called me a racist, a bigot, a sexist, a fascist, a "threat to democracy" for even the most innocent of disagreements, that it was simply hyperbolic rhetoric done for effect.

And now the "effect" is a widow and two orphaned children, because the left couldn’t bear the thought of a peaceful man debating them and winning.

I don’t think they realize it yet, but murdering Charlie is going to be remembered as the day where we finally woke up to what this fight really is.

It’s not a civil dispute among fellow countrymen. It’s a war between diametrically opposed worldviews which cannot peacefully coexist with one another. One side will win, and one side will lose.

Charlie tried to win that fight through argumentation, through discussion, through peaceful resolution of differences.

And the other side murdered him.

Not because he was “extreme” or “inciting violence” or any other hyperbolic slur they hurled at him. They murdered him because he was effective. Because he was unafraid. Because he inspired others and made them feel like they had a voice, that they were not alone. And he did it at the very institutions which have fomented so much hatred toward conservatives.

I don’t want to “stand in solidarity” with the other side of the aisle. I want to defeat you. I want to defeat the godless ideology that kills babies in the womb, sterilizes confused children, turns our cities into cesspools of degeneracy and lawlessness…and that murdered Charlie Kirk.

Social media is aflame right now with leftist celebration of Charlie’s death.

I wonder if any among them understand what has just happened. If there is a Yamamoto somewhere in their midst warning, that all they have done is awoken a sleeping giant.

I doubt it. I think they gave up such introspection and self-awareness long ago.

I don’t know exactly what will happen next. I just know that it won’t be the same as what has happened in the past.

There will be thoughts and prayers…Charlie would have wanted prayers. Not for himself but for those left behind and for the country that he loved.

But then there will be a reckoning.

My Christian faith requires me to love my enemies and pray for those who curse me. It does not require me to stand idly by in the midst of savagery and barbarism...quite the opposite.

So every time I feel tired, every time I feel discouraged or overwhelmed, I am going to watch the video of a good man being murdered in Utah…I will force myself to watch it…and then I will return to the work of destroying the evil ideology responsible for that and so much more.

Rest with God Charlie, your fight is over.

Ours is just beginning.
