Avid Detroit sports fan, with Tigers #1. Music and sarcasm are passions. Hard core baseball afficionado!..insurance professional- professional musician as well.
@confusion_reign Obviously, if the tigers have no chance of making the playoffs and it’s early/mid July, then of course you’ve got to trade Skubal. But right now this is a nothing story. I don’t blame Harris for telling people they’re not trading him at this point either. It’s not time.
@bythewaybro This truly is a nothing story. At this point, you’re not trading him. And there’s no reason to alert anybody that you are, it takes away from his position of strength in the trade potential. If and when the time comes, then it’s something to deal with.
@nperna12@JimCosta_ They won’t keep him is my point if they are out of it completely. But if they’re legitimately in a race for the playoffs, there’s a chance they might. I know the odds of that are long at this point.
@1kovacs I’m wondering if they’ve talked to Verlander about maybe doing that? Going out as a back end reliever for his career. Will allow him to maybe let loose and throw a bit harder.
The bullpen is still a major concern for the Tigers. But one thing appears to be eminent, both Skubal and Verlander are probably going to be back within a week to 10 days I believe. Now, do we consider moving one of the starters into the pen? Maybe two of them?
@nperna12@JimCosta_ They will trade Skubal if they’re anywhere near as bad as they are now or have almost no chance to make the playoffs in mid July. There is a temperature where they might keep him, but it’s unlikely, that’s the way to phrase it. No reason for Tigers to tell people they’re ready.
@JimCosta_ No, you’re trying to get a narrative to talk about on the radio like a typical sports radio host. If they are out of it on 4 July or thereafter, they will definitely be in the trade market. That’s more than a month away. And there’s a chance they’ll be out of it obviously.
@the_det_times@Buster_ESPN Once again, this Detroit Times questionable site, not being accurate. They said as of now. It’s freaking June 4. Be smarter.
@Avabelly__ Yeah, I had a similar neighbor do that a few years ago, made a comment jokingly to him and he no longer does it. It’s completely asshole behavior. Yes, even though I’m usually up by 7 AM even on a weekend. It’s still bullshit.
@Whiticar As much as I love La Porta and think he could be the best tight end in the league are certainly in the top three, probably him because of the position. He’s also shown he’s a bit injury prone, which is never good in my opinion.
@Castellani2014 The way DD did think he was almost the direct opposite of Harris. Loved drafting high-end, pitching talent, and had 0 problem, trading minor league bats/talent for major league players. He was a good trader. His development stuff was poor, but he was trying to win now always.
@confusion_reign I can’t speak for others , but I personally never said “he’s done TJ”, there’s no question. I was concerned when it was said there was forearm issues going on. That’s usually a precursor. But I’m glad as hell that he appears to be just fine.
@UMFanJosh Yeah, part of it, a little bit like Colt Keith. He doesn’t turn on the ball and drive it to RF in the air enough. He does every once in a while. He will get that eventually
@Section344Lions Really it’s even more than that in terms of injury. A lot of guys have been in and out of the lineup with injuries as well, including some of the relievers whether we believe in them or not. It all makes a difference.
@realistic_cynic@Castellani2014 Hey RC. You’re an embarrassment for saying that. Castellani is a Detroit sports treasure. But if you wanna be jealous that you don’t have a good voice, that’s perfectly fine too.
