Great article on the increasing use of subtitles (closed captioning) and how streaming services forced a change in loudness that made dialogue more difficult to hear ~ Why Is Everyone Watching TV With the Subtitles On? https://t.co/ZZZGOKI7rF #EdTech#OnlineLearning
To celebrate their 100 year anniversary, @UDelPress has made some of its backlist titles available for free and plans to publish new open access titles. https://t.co/EfDKSxZkGS #EdTech#OnlineLearning#HigherEd
Congratulations to Brie Radis, Ebonnie Vazquez, and @ProfSuzen - their eTextbook "Social Change = Movement + Policy + Advocacy" was recognized at the @WCUofPA Spotlight on Faculty Research for advancing equity, inclusion, belonging, and student success! https://t.co/2F1IWcVYTn
A proud PI moment: yesterday the Pennsylvania Alliance for Design of Open Textbooks (PA-ADOPT) announced the "soft launch" of our web site at https://t.co/PPfNuyYB6T along with our first free and open eTextbook, a General Chemistry lab manual #HigherEd#OER#EdTech
It's a new semester savings record! Boosted by new eTextbooks that had rolled out earlier in the year, during the Fall 2022 semester our books were used by 365 @WCUofPA students in 14 course sections, saving them $26,321. That's $10K more than the previous record!
Lisa OS 3.1 is now open source: a nice gift to computer science education, plus it was written in Pascal (those were the good ol' days) https://t.co/OuJbZhRCih #Computing
Sadly, it's a story heard too often (see also David Mills and Network Time Protocol). Why doesn't software development count towards promotion and tenure? https://t.co/Ml4lk0CeMt #HigherEd#Computing
I don't think any of the major voice assistants has lived up to their original hype of functioning almost like an actual assistant. Lack of trust in the company is probably also a factor.

Current challenges faced by Computer Science faculty. There's some irony with the computer-based grading solutions being more trouble than they're worth. While it's long and tedious work, I always found feedback directly from faculty to be extremely helpful. #HigherEd#Computing
Awesome! Their search is currently down (probably getting slammed because of the recent press), but I'm looking forward to diving into this. ~ Lost something? Search through 91.7 million files from the ’80s, ’90s, and 2000s https://t.co/2hEKgZGa7y #EdTech#Computing
