please don't (especially as the average woman) walk around with a knife and believe that that makes you safer

it may work as an initial deterrent if you flash it at someone, but if you're untrained and up against an attacker who's determined and even marginally stronger than you, then they'll take the knife out of your hands and you will end up stabbed, and will bleed out and die within 30 seconds (up to 2 minutes if you're lucky)

just get a pepper spray--and test it at least one time so that you actually know how it works
