To qualify for a mortgage to buy a home in Canada, the minimum household income is now $175,317. Now keep in mind you will have to pay 38% tax, and every dollar you earn above that the Provincial and Federal government considers you ultra rich and is taxed at 48%. So mortgage, property taxes and insurance is 65% of your after tax income. Good luck. Young Canadians are f&$#ed.

It was such a privilege to be part of FAN 960 for parts of three decades, dating back to my time analyzing Flames games alongside Jock Wilson, Friday hits with Rob Kerr, and my lengthy run alongside the uber-talented @Fan960Steinberg on the EF Hour.
Such a wonderful venue to dig deep into the Flames and the Calgary sportscape, while having some laughs along the way.
So many passionate, dedicated people on staff who did well to give fans and journalists a platform to hash out the sporting issues of the day.
The station also gave a voice to @KidSportCalgary and so many other great causes and community-leading people/sponsors in our city.
As Ken King used to say, “all this was ever meant to be is fun.”

It’s time for Prime Minister @MarkJCarney to join me and millions of our fellow Canadians in supporting the appointment of Don Cherry to the Order of Canada, one of our nation’s highest honours.

This shouldn’t even be up for debate. Don Cherry is a Canadian icon, a hockey legend and is loved by Albertans. He’s not just one of the greats, his word and opinion about our national sport is still treated as hockey gospel by millions of Canadians.

His contributions to Canadian sport and culture are undeniable, and the work he did to honour our nation’s veterans was an invaluable contribution to our country. He will forever hold a special place in the hearts of Canadians.

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation dished out $30 million in bonuses last year.

99% of its executives took a bonus, according to records. Average bonus for CMHC exec was $42,000.

When the iPhone launched, everyone kept asking what the mobile use case would be. Would people check email on their phones? Maybe browse simplified websites? The assumption was that your PC would remain the center of your digital life and your phone would handle some lightweight tasks on the side.

Benedict Evans remembers those debates. He was a telecom analyst back then, watching everyone try to figure out what ‘mobile internet’ actually meant. In hindsight, the entire industry was thinking about it the wrong way. They were looking for better ways to do existing things instead of imagining entirely new categories of behavior.

The iPhone wasn't just a better BlackBerry. It fundamentally changed what a phone could be. Within a few years, Uber drivers were navigating cities through their phones, Instagram was turning everyone into photographers, and TikTok was creating entirely new forms of entertainment. None of these were 'mobile versions' of existing products. They were what the iPhone made possible.

Benedict thinks we’re now making similar assumptions today with AI. We're focused on whether it can replace existing tools or do current tasks faster. But he points out that testing new technology against old criteria misses the point. The real changes, as with every platform shift, will be the things we haven't imagined yet.

Canada should be building pipelines and approving resource projects, not driving hundreds of billions in investment away.

Another major energy company is now moving jobs and pipeline construction to the U.S., pushed out by the federal Liberal anti-resource development laws.

If Ottawa is serious about strengthening the Canadian economy, the oil and gas emissions/production cap, net zero power regs, and tanker ban must be repealed immediately.

Every day we delay these desperately needed reforms, we lose out on thousands of jobs billions in projects for our province and country. And the United States continues to hold us over a barrel as our only real customer.

Canada’s new “Canadian Identity” minister @s_guilbeault just deceived Canadians saying we don’t need more pipelines because the TMX pipeline is only 40% full and peak oil will be in 2 years.

The facts are that TMX, which just opened and would have been built entirely with private dollars if Ottawa hadn’t made it impossible for the original proponent to build it, is already close to capacity.

Further most estimates of demand for bitumen shows it growing for several more decades and that it will be needed to replace declining U.S. conventional oil fields.

This is just another example of how misleading and destructive this former environment minister was to Alberta’s and Canada’s economy and investment climate.

We ask for the new environment minister @juliedabrusin to disavow his comments and commit to working with Alberta to build new pipelines to access new markets.
