Based on our (@kfruitman1@cheyennecsmith1@thisjaime) experiences interacting with patients with hearing loss, we took a look at how prevalent this issue is and how we can improve these patients' experiences!

2/ To avoid rapid spread of the virus timely access to care is important, but 30 million people are uninsured and 44 million more are underinsured due to high deductibles and out-of-pocket costs in their plans.
This suggests that within black patients, SES was also a significant contributor to 30-day readmission. Critically, the findings provide opportunities for providers to identify at-risk patients and intervene to prevent unplanned re-admissions. #healthequity

At baseline, African Americans had a significantly higher risk for re-admission (Model 0). Adjusting for age/sex didn't change much (Model 1). When household income, a marker of SES was accounted for (Model 3), the risk of readmission in black patients dropped.
