Pgm dir for Chicago's AM 560 & AM 1160. Media professional. Contrarian conservative. Theological poseur. Opinions = mine. Wheaton (IL) BA '99. N’western MA '03.
@Betsycashmoney A. Take it up with the morons running the city and state
B. The Bears play 10-11 games a year & account for 20% of stadium revenue. If the city/state thought that was worth the debt, then see A.
C. Demand? Did they put a gun to someone’s head? Fans? That’s not how it works.
@Bullskickass The broadcast position at the UC should be dedicated in honor of Stacey King. Put a plaque on the table. Players can hit it on their way to check in. And everyone who sits in that seat can acknowledge that they’re sitting in Stacey’s seat.
Ten years from now, with a beautiful, easy-to-access domed stadium in place and having hosted a Super Bowl and a Final Four, absolutely no one will care at all that the Bears' stadium is roughly 3,000 feet on the other side of the state line.
@KarliBell33 This may be one of the least informed opinions on this topic that I’ve seen. Please delete your account. You don’t know what you’re talking about.
@KrisZellner Hammond is closer to Chicago than Arlington Heights.
As a lifelong Bears fan and Illinoisan, I'm glad that got a great deal. They'll build a beautiful stadium that will be 20 minutes from downtown Chicago.
@KenWo4LiFe SE corner of Wood and Washington, next to the school. 2 blocks north of UC, across from Lot A. Always on-street parking. Easy place to park and wait to pick up. I’ve done it half a dozen times.
@nilwxreports This is ridiculous. Northwest Indiana has always been a part of Chicagoland, by even the strictest of definitions. Hammond literally borders Chicago. NWI is in the Chicago media market. Enough with this nonsense.
@drantbradley Too many Christian colleges don't actually train students to actually *DO* anything after college. No critical thinking skills. No job skills. No networking connections. They leave with a BA and a load of debt and aren't qualified to be hired anywhere.
TRUMP'S AMERICA 250 CONCERT LINEUP IS COLLAPSING
Multiple artists are dropping out of Trump's "Great American State Fair," a 16-day celebration on the National Mall (June 25-July 10) billed as a nonpartisan 250th anniversary event. The lineup has lost nearly two-thirds of its acts in the last 48 hours.
🔸Martina McBride (country star): Said she was "assured this was a nonpartisan event" celebrating all 50 states. After the Trump administration connection became public, she withdrew, saying she was misled.
🔸Bret Michaels: Called the event "divisive" and cited "threats" to his family and crew. Originally scheduled for July 3.
🔸Morris Day: Announced it was "a no for me."
🔸William King (The Commodores): Withdrew, saying "Our music has always been our voice and we choose not to publicly affiliate with any single political party."
🔸Young MC: Revealed that "the artists were never told about any political involvement with the event."
🔸Milli Vanilli: Vocalists said they were not performing at the event.
Freedom 250, the nonprofit organizing the fair, marketed it to performers as a nonpartisan celebration. Artists only learned Trump's White House Task Force was directly coordinating it after accepting. The event is overtly MAGA-coded: "Make America Healthy Again Monday," Christian prayer events, UFC fights on Trump's birthday, and a PragerU history exhibit.
Who's left? Vanilla Ice, Flo Rida, and a disputed C+C Music Factory. Freedom Williams said he'd back out after learning "I don't f--- with Trump," then later said in a 7-minute rant that he'd perform anyway out of spite.
@adamjohnsonCHI I’ve shopped at Jewel once in the past 8 years. The prices shocked me. I downloaded their app and promptly gave up trying to use it for discounts. Confusing and clunky. A shocking decline for what was once my go-to grocer in Chicago.
@AlmotsGraps There’s so much happening in this picture. You can stare at it for hours and keep finding new things worthy of questions. Why 2 desks? Why is he sitting like that? The fire extinguisher in the corner? The corded phone?
