I remember telling skeptical European diplomats in 2024 that the Gaza genocide will be a formative experience for an entire generation of Americans. That the politics around Israel will change in America faster than most have expected.

And I specifically told them that the kids at the Columbia, Harvard, MIT encampments are no ordinary kids. They are the future leaders of this country. At least one of them will run for president. Several will run for Senate. Even more for the House.

O topo do funcionalismo brasileiro se paga como elite econômica.

O novo painel da Receita Federal mostra o patrimônio médio por ocupação. Titulares de cartório declaram cerca de R$ 3,3 milhões em bens. Ministério Público e Judiciário aparecem com R$ 2,9 milhões cada. Um médico fica em R$ 1,4 milhão e um engenheiro, em R$ 0,9 milhão.

Na renda, a distância se repete. Um magistrado recebe quase vinte vezes a média de quem declara Imposto de Renda. Boa parte vem como auxílios e verbas isentas, acima do teto constitucional.

Chamo esse arranjo de CEOs da administração pública. Um estrato no alto do Estado define a própria remuneração e captura a maior fatia do orçamento de seus órgãos. No Judiciário e no Ministério Público, quem captura o orçamento é a cúpula, não o servidor (analista, técnico, assessor) que sustenta a Justiça.

O custo é público. Cada real gasto com supersalário no topo é um real a menos para saúde e educação. O debate sobre o custo Brasil credita à corrupção o dreno de recursos, mas esse gasto legal sai do mesmo orçamento.
