@randomrecruiter @HResendez14 I agree. Two new grad nieces, both SEs, started jobs this week (1 aerospace, 1 tech), on hybrid schedules. Each company carefully noted during interviews and in offer letters, “hybrid schedules for now, later on may change” type of language. They don’t want to be locked in.

She mentors appraisers both at the bank and outside but when she encourages certification, inevitably she gets “it’s too hard, time consuming, stressful, etc.” yet they all see how well she is compensated/treated.

@ThinkAppraiser @oldmaninvegas The bank has no one in the pipeline to replace her and as a result, goes out of it’s way to make her life better - great compensation (salary, bonus, stock), plenty of vacation and general willingness to let her work from anywhere which is great for extending vacations.

@d0rkph0enix @0x42red This is the part that bothers me the most. I don’t think a 19 year-old is mature enough to understand the risk involved. The other men, sure, 3 were over 5O and one was 77. They understood. But at 19, no way. I don’t believe he should have been allowed to go. So sad. 😔

@FeralQuokka @mattyglesias Same. New York City in the late 70s/early 80s was much the same. Drinking age was 18, most teens had a fake ID which bartenders barely looked at and there was a general, relaxed, “Just let them have fun” kind of attitude. Plus, we didn’t need to drive to get anywhere.
