@liv2learn ..the knowledge necessary to skillfully teach. They rely on programs bc that’s all they can rely on- districts provide 0 meaningful PD. That requires knowing what teachers need and quite frankly district leaders are CLUELESS. They do NOT rely on data to make decisions.
@liv2learn This is shameful! PA should return to not just meeting growth requirements but minimal proficiency standards. Are we surprised that so few are proficient? More money isn’t the answer. What’s the consequence of continulously failing our students? Nothing! Our teachers lack…
School Administrators must learn to teach kids how to read. If you don't know it, and won't learn it, how on Earth can you lead it. Yes, that also means central office staff.
Reminder: RTI is not a service. Kids don’t “test into RTI” & then “get RTI” from an “RTI teacher.” If we are using the term this way, we missed the boat. RTI is an overarching approach to instruction & the most important “RTI tchr” is the gen ed tchr delivering core instruction.
Every leader in education needs to listen to these, school boards included. We are failing students. There is no excuse not to change course. All students deserve to be able to read and if they aren’t first ask what is missing in the curriculum NOT the child.
“We cannot use special education as a solution to the number of students who are struggling to read. Embrace a model of prevention. Tier 1 instruction is key.” - Jack Fletcher, #dyslexiacon22
@ehanford@ParkerPhonics It is difficult for me to imagine how you feel that way. It is an election that you and anyone can participate in. The act of even contesting an election is part of our freedom. It should improve the process in the end.
Parents who know better DO better too. My nephew loves being read to. My niece may not have known the importance before, but she does now! I love that she and her partner read to their son nightly. 📚
With leadership that makes literacy for all a priority, you get teachers who learn skills that end up helping ALL students learn to read and spell. Thank you Dr. Sanders and Mr. Walker for your passion for putting students FIRST! @CVSD17350@CVIS17350@pattanliteracy
