Join us in Belgium! Two PhD and two postdocs are available on the LOCO project. Its a great opportunity to work with a large interdisciplinary team examining the mobility of people, materials and ideas 💡
Happy to announce that @zooms_lab and I won a small seed grant to the project "Marine Palaeoecology in Hong Kong: A Pilot Archaeological Investigation" 🐟🐠🦈🐬 Let's find out which fish is the tastiest (that's totally NOT the research question...🤣🤣)!!
Our scientific committee is busy evaluating your abstracts.

New paper out by @JBioarch on Legaire Sur (Álava, Spain), a Late Neolithic/Chalcolithic transition burial tomb. This period was a time of notable population expansion, technological advancement, as well as social and economic change.
Isotopic analysis of 🦷tells us more 👇🧵1/6
Last week, @Christophe_Fire was in Trento, to attend the MOLA workshop from @CapuzzoGiacomo's MSCA post-doc fellowship. The first exciting results were presented which use multi-isotope analyses of inhumation & cremations in the Italian Alps from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age🔥
This month @ElisavetStamat2 and Prof Barbara Veselka have been working on the excavation of LBA/EIA cremation graves at Steenwijk in The Netherlands. The cremation depositions will come back to AMGC to be CT scanned and then micro-excavated!
What does research on the past bring to people living today? This was discussed live on national radio last Sunday, when @IsotopistRachel was interviewed by De Ochtend on VRT Radio 1 about her research on medieval Ypres. Missed it? Find it here: https://t.co/amBJpURWj5
We are very excited to share our research showing the potential of #archaeometabolomics to reveal past phenotypes, here #tobacco use. We hope to next track how this relates to tobacco use rates and disease prevalence in the past! Watch this space. #archaeology#archsci#History
After an amazing PhD journey, I will be defending my thesis on the 15th of November🥳. If you’d like to hear more about the isotope analyses I did on the medieval population of Ypres, you are more than welcome to attend my public defence in Brussels!🦴🦷Message me for more info!
Excited to begin my @FWOVlaanderen Postdoc Fellowship on unravelling archaeological diets using stable + radiogenic strontium isotopes & concentrations 🥕🧂🥚🥓🐟🤞
First step is measuring food & finding out what alters δ⁸⁸Sr: fermenting, rotting, pickling, brewing, roasting?
