Canada is an incredible country that succeeded in building a global compassionate narrative on immigration like no other nation has ever done or will do. With the current political climate across 🇨🇦, we should always remember that asylum seekers are human beings who don't deserve to be demonized to appease bigots or to score political points by intolerance, which sells very easily.
Thanks @markhollandlib for supporting the needs of Autistic Canadians. Thanks to @MikeLakeMP and @coteau for your dedication in bringing #S203 forward, which led to the release of #AutismStrategy2024 yesterday.

GAMES POILIEVRE PLAYS:
In the House of Commons Poilievre has his favorite little tricks.
#1 He will stand up and demand that the PM answer the question and ask, all outraged why he won't answer when IN FACT he clearly knows the PM is not there. He knows camera can't show that 1/5
Rebekah Kintzinger, Co-chair at @AllianceAutism and Regional Representative for Australia, Britain, Canada, New Zealand and Malta at the Commonwealth Disabled People's Forum was in Nairobi last week to talk about the Alliance's initiatives with a human rights-based approach.
Hey Canada. We don't have to go through what the U.S. went through under Donald Trump. We don't have to go through what Britain went through under Boris Johnson & Brexit. We can learn from their mistakes. All we have to do is #NeverVoteConservative Especially for

Today marks the start of Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM)! A time to celebrate, educate, and raise awareness around employment inclusion for people with disabilities. View the attached photos for a schedule of events all month long! #DEAM#IncludingAll
I lived through Mike Harris’ so-called common sense revolution. It left #Ontario worse off: less investments in education, healthcare & housing.
Nothing common sense about it - just total nonsense.
Poilievre will cut services, slash benefits & take us backwards.

The national autism strategy work has begun. Make sure your voice is part of this important new activity. Complete the survey and add your opinion. Let PHAC know what you think is needed. Google national autism network survey and add your voice! Only 1 week left.
This Network will be an important source of consistent and critical engagement from Canadians with autism as we develop Canada’s national autism strategy.
Congratulations to @pacificautism, @AllianceAutism and @autismspeaksCAN on this important project!

@oliviachow Mayor Chow your leadership on the crisis of refugees/homeless having nowhere fro go has been inspiring. Can you get the churches to step up. They have large spaces(tax free) that could be used to meet their own mandates of charity.
Leadership is about standing up for what’s right, protecting Canadians' freedoms and ensuring that everyone - regardless of how they identify - can feel safe.
This is not leadership.

Is there any way to get churches to step up. They have lots of underused space and a commitment to helping the needy. Revamp Out of the Cold program…Get off the streets? Welcome stations?
Thank you to the refugee-serving agencies, shelters, healthcare providers, and advocates who joined us to discuss the ongoing refugee housing & homelessness crisis.
I look forward to working with you all.
🏥 We just delivered an additional $2 billion health care top-up to the provinces/territories to help them reduce backlogs and respond to urgent pressures in emergency rooms, operating rooms, and in pediatric hospitals like the IWK.

After 8 years of Trudeau, I’m voting for him again. I don’t care long he holds office as long as he continues to do a good job and keeps moving this country forward. I vote based on good results, not because of tenure. Anyone else is too much of a risk.
Heartiest congratulations to Toronto’s next mayor, @oliviachow! Man, this is really going to shake things up on the Rogers board—Wait, I’m getting new information. That role does not in fact come with the position.
First-blush story from me: “Mayor Olivia Chow” — a shocking and impossible-sounding phrase only months ago when John Tory cruised to a third term — is Toronto’s new reality after voters signaled they want a dramatic new direction for the ailing city. https://t.co/w1E4MbTh9i
