@himbopotamuss to be clear it was in no way selfless because this dog rules & he is the best cure for seasonal depression without year round dog ownership
@himbopotamuss I knew my best friend would find her high energy dog a burden postpartum (her husband is a pilot and travels constantly, just not a recipe for success) which is why I had Hawk the golden for six months over the winter/spring and it was truly the best for everyone!!
Let's be honest here. A lot of the frenzy about the pied-a-terre tax list is not on behalf of helpless little old ladies.
It's coming from people who have been defrauding NYC by pretending not to be residents for income tax purposes.
Now those people have to choose. Income tax or pied-a-terre? Do you live here or not?
@jim_crumley@thebeaglebets@Lizzie_Baseball doesn’t really count… the oldest baby boomers weren’t old enough to vote when JFK died. the youngest baby boomers weren’t even born in JFK’s lifetime.
@JohnnyCorvette@CharlesFLehman I think it’s a lot! my straight laced dad gave up being a hippie after getting drafted, abstained for 40 years, only substance was red wine. now alcohol gives him prostate issues, so he’s ripping bong hits at 5:30pm instead of pouring a glass.
90s-Dad wouldn’t recognize him now!
@himbopotamuss ooh that’s a great point. I’m shocked it hasn’t hit the midtown nyc salad bowl professionals… believe sweetgreen uses local farms but no clue about the other major bowls
@ggooooddddoogg Sorry, not sorry, not going to care about the Reflecting Pool because I grew up with an alcoholic, psychologically abusive father in a constant state of working on the pool.
Hearing the pool pump sputter on every night was my own "National Mall Algae Bloom" for almost 20 years.
@idobadtakes@Gandalf_da_Grey@JillFilipovic exactly - if a florist has to make a last minute substitute of white peonies for white hydrangeas for a $100k gala, they’ll give the client a credit and it’s no big deal
if they do it for a $100k wedding, it’s a nightmare, ruins the bride’s vision & you’ll get a terrible review
California’s billionaires currently pay such a low tax rate that even if ALL of them left the state, guess what would happen?
It would take 25 years for the loss of their income tax payments to surpass the amount collected with the 5% one-off wealth tax.
@botticellibimbo any slip recommendations? I have my *grandmother’s* half slip that makes every skirt and dress fall better/not cling or twist when walking, but it’s coming apart due to age!
