As a coach, it’s important to know your players and find out what their natural position is and make sure you put them in the proper place within your offense/defense.
A lot of times you’ll see players in positions that don’t fully suit them but coach needs them to fill certain roles within their offense.
It’s totally fine to develop players in areas you want them to play but when a player doesn’t have the freedom to play their natural role, though a talented player - you won’t get the best out of them. You’ll get a shell of a player that wants to please their coach, end up playing scared, not confident, looks like their boxed in mentally, and unsure of themselves.
Coaches, learn your players and coach them to their strengths while developing them in areas that you want them to be in your program and future basketball opportunities.
BROKEN ARROW SUPER SCRIMMAGE STANDOUTS
Mariah Watson - Strong point guard with lateral quickness to pressure the ball on the defensive end. Explodes into space effectively off the dribble and can rise up in the midrange for the pull up jump shot. She hit a timely shot at the buzzer in one of the games that showed her confidence and shooting ability. @mariah_watson06@LadyJacketBB
