I'm a 4th gen doctor. This meant I went to good schools, socialised with other doctor's kids- many of whom also wanted to become doctors and shared tips and resources about medical school entry- and already knew many lecturers when I got in. It's *not* a level playing field.

@ausgrandprix@vicctoriaaa96 So I can’t buy more tokens to become pole or elite? That was an option a few days ago and yesterday I could only be a starter
“My passion [F1] comes with certain aspects that I have learned to dislike. They might be solved in the future but the will to apply that change has to grow much stronger and has to be leading to action today. Talk is not enough and we can’t afford to wait.” SEBASTIAN VETTEL 🗣🗣

Many NSW #AiM’s receiving a proportion of this payment in line w their average hours worked and their 0.75FTE reward today. While the most junior of medical staff in this time, I am deeply appreciative of the opportunity to learn and serve the community.
Healthcare workers in NSW will receive a $3000 "thank you" payment for their frontline efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. #9News

things I’ve learnt in ed:
- you can get triaging wrong and you’d be surprised what a cat4 can rlly present with
- pelvic pain needs it’s own clinic or more O&G bed space
- paramedics are better history takers than all in-house staff (except for maybe geriatrics)
@bjemec Definitely a personal thing but I always ask all colleagues to call me by first name. Flattening the hierarchy builds better teams and ensures better results and improved pt safety. We learned this from the airline industry years ago, right?
If I’d read the smh story about Sydney’s hospitals being overwhelmed - https://t.co/wFBPzJcyFZ - just over 2 months ago I’d have trouble believing it’s true let alone the norm, but now having worked in emergency (not even in the metro) I see this happen irl
we’ve started IV abx for a complicated case of cellulitis in the corridor. I’ve had to do my history taking in the corridor around 4-5 wheeled stretchers w their occupants and their paramedics waiting around too
