I've received an email from someone telling me that a school has stopped sending children home with books - neither 'real' books or 'reading scheme' books - but instead giving parents a login to access phonics lessons instead.

Extraordinary that the lead bishops for safeguarding in the @churchofengland should issue this message to abuse survivors following #justinwelby’s speech. But entirely necessary. Relieved they acted so swiftly.
🎄 We did it! What a fabulous time performing at Thomas’s Christmas Tree Festival today!
4 groups from south Wiltshire came together to sing today, & premiere our new song 🎵 🎶
This is what arts in health and community music can do. Thank you to all our supporters 🙏🏻🎄
…then you get GP days like this
Pt: I wouldn’t have agreed to go to hospital. I hadn’t realised how serious my symptoms were, but I trusted your judgement. That’s twice now.
Me: Twice?
Pt: You referred me for a cancer 8 years ago that I didn’t believe I had
Me: I did?
Pt: Yes. You’ve saved my life twice. Thank you
THIS is the power of continuity of care & something that’s not measured
That long term relationship between a doctor & patient brings with it understanding & trust.
And that is invaluable ♥️
The Assisted Dying Bill has passed its Second Reading today by approximately 52:48.
I hope we have learned by now that a majority of 52:48 does NOT mean that the country has made up its mind and the people have decided.

There is nothing your baby loves more than your face.
Watch how mesmerized this little one is by her mother - and how carefully she studies the shape and movement of Mom’s mouth as she serenades her.
It’s how we learn to speak.
When it comes to faces, research suggests that babies have some very specific preferences:
They prefer looking at faces that are:
- socially relevant to them (faces looking directly at them as opposed to faces with an averted gaze),
- happy faces (compared to those with neutral facial expressions),
- and those of their mothers (compared to those of strangers).
So always be looking for opportunities to sit face-to-face. There’s nothing your baby would rather look at than YOU.

Huge thanks to former @SalisburyCath chorister Luke Lane for playing the Last Post and Reveille at our Act of Remembrance this morning. Luke was a chorister here until 2017, and now studies trumpet at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
