Lots of exciting things are happening--but I've mostly been reporting them in @LinkedIn in recent months.

@Marietmora 🟣Men, especially Latinos, saw the highest rate of COVID-19 deaths, “leaving a whole generation of children w/o parents, and mothers with the responsibilities of entire households,” said @DrCamposMedina.

So when jobs returned, vaccines came out & schools/daycare reopened...

Certainly the return of hospitality jobs is part of it. Latinas are ~1/3 of service sector and hospitality, specifically, has been steadily adding jobs since about the start of 2021.

@econoflove Thank you @econoflove. Such sad news so far in 2023–My wonderful friends/colleagues, each one am immense loss— Drs. Bettina Casad, at @umsl (Psych), Rodney Andrews (Econ), Bill Spriggs (Econ), and now Mark Fossett (Soc). The world is less bright with the loss of each of them.

I’m saddened to learn Dr. Mark Fossett at @TAMU has passed away. A #sociologist colleague whose research interests were in #racial residential #segregation, he served as Director of the Texas Federal #Statistics Research Data Center (#TXRDC).
