Thrilled to share our paper with @meaperei @n_faivre and @elifilevich now out in @NatureComms! In 3 experiments, we show that priors have a stronger influence on confidence judgements than they do on the decisions themselves. An (updated) 🧵👇 (1/8) https://t.co/bxhWATS8Tt
Thrilled to share a new preprint on Neurophenomenal Structuralism (NPS) by @AdrienDoerig & myself! We show why neural structures alone aren’t enough to capture conscious contents. We must consider computational context! (https://t.co/By5aY2hWDO). A Thread:
Recorded keynotes from the 2024 MESEC Winter School are now available on YouTube 🥳 We thank again the amazing speakers who agreed to join us this year, and invite everyone to dive into the wealth of knowledge they shared >> https://t.co/YSQZa5Aais
My review of temporal attention is out in @NatRevPsych! It covers key conceptual issues, data, and models in the field of visual temporal attention, and I hope it will be useful to both experts and those new to the topic

Our new sEEG study is out on BioRxiv: https://t.co/q0JZWprTKT! Using 3 face detection experiments and recording from >3000 channels, we found a neural code that reflected evidence accumulation for conscious perception and perceptual confidence! 👇
Super thrilled to share that our paper with brilliant co-first-author @helenevanmarcke is now published in @PsychScience ! Huge thanks to @KobeDesender and Tom Verguts for their supervision ! Read the final paper here: https://t.co/Xmiuvu0Nve
Our new paper on metacognition and sense of agency is just out on Cognition. Here is link of a 50 days’ free access. https://t.co/ieDsUtrTEZ

@BalsdonTarryn @meaperei @n_faivre @elifilevich @NatureComms @mlisi6 @meganakpeters@DobyRahnev Thanks Tarryn! 😊 And yes a big thanks to @meganakpeters for the review which was hugely helpful in strengthening the work and also to @mlisi6 for the important input pointing out to us an alternative explanation and encouraging further digging!

And finally, this points to the importance of including confidence when studying priors in decision-making... after all, a more optimal posterior might be hiding at the metacognitive level! (8/8)
So, we think we should consider priors when studying confidence. Perhaps this reveals another type of metacognitive confirmation bias, with confidence favouring information consistent with one's previous beliefs. 🤔 More exploration needed! (7/8)
So excited to be here at @ASSC26 and still buzzing from the incredible first day! I’ll be presenting a poster today of our work finding robust dissociations between the effect of priors in decisions and confidence. Come check out if it violates any priors for you!
