This month I'm rereading #AnneofGreenGables in honour of Linda Luong Luck, one of the nicest editors I've ever worked with.
If you'd like to donate to #readforLinda to support her family, @cancersociety or Brain Injury Canada, you can do so here: https://t.co/wlp1PUpq4S💛
The read-a-thon starts tomorrow 💛 Funds raised go towards your choice of Linda's family, the @cancersociety and Brain Injury Canada.
This read-a-thon is a way to honour Linda together and to communicate to her loved ones that we are thinking of her.💛
I've organized a read-a-thon in memory of Linda Luong Luck. This October, you can participate by reading, by donating, or by spreading the word. We can honour Linda together by thinking of her and supporting causes close to her: https://t.co/aMBYaojurW

If not slowed, climate change over the next few centuries could lead to marine losses unlike anything Earth has seen in 252 million years. #WorldOceansDay https://t.co/PNmaBvO33M
“Is it too late to do anything about climate change?”
It’s not too late. Many solutions are already being used, and a new report from @IPCC_CH shows how the world can limit climate warming. 🧵:
It's true that Earth has cycled through many ice ages and warm periods in the past. But these were driven by natural changes.
Today's global warming cannot be explained by natural changes. #BasedOnScience https://t.co/o7Z3HBUCQP
Zero COVID was never a realistic, practical or achievable strategy in the U.S.
Unmitigated viral spread is also not a strategy
The realistic goal is low levels of transmission, high levels of immunity in the population and easily accessible therapeutics among other factors
What about masks?
The TDSB asked for permission to keep mask rules in place in schools, citing low youth vaccination rates and a need to watch for increased COVID-19 transmission after March break. The province rejected their requests.

Can we please reinstate mask mandate to help each other? 💛 “chief medical officer strongly encouraged all residents to wear masks” “@BogochIsaac said […] relying on hospitals to swallow the sick patients […] not a prudent strategy […] a portion of those ppl die.” @fordnation
