So excited to share our opinion paper in @TrendsPlantSci! We highlight the 9 Uvr-motif proteins in arabidopsis and propose regulatory roles for them in chloroplast proteostasis based on homologous systems in bacteria. I had a lot of fun writing with @marissa_annis & @vanwijklab!
My first opinion paper is out! I learned so much writing it with @ClaireRavenburg@vanwijklab. We look at how Clp chaperone Uvr motifs regulate proteolytic activity and substrate selection and propose candidate regulator proteins in chloroplasts.

Intra-chloroplast proteases: A holistic network view of chloroplast proteolysis https://t.co/9ybUmoACOY
Our recent attempt to summarize and provide a more holistic view on the role of proteolysis in plastid biogenesis and functions.
Our new story about novel chloroplast Clp substrates including one with a very short half-life (minutes) is posted. "Stromal DUF760-1 and DUF760-2 proteins are degraded by the chloroplast Clp protease system but have very different half-lives" https://t.co/mKHFJu2KQK
POSTDOC position open to do research on the N-degron pathway and its substrates in plant chloroplasts. Klaas van Wijk lab, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, USA. For more information see the attached doc.
Our new PeptideAtlas-based study on the Arabidopsis organelle-encoded proteomes is posted. Read more about the impact of non-synonymous RNA editing at the protein level! https://t.co/k0bobDJKzr

The 2022 BMCB GGD Symposium is next week! Link to register below. We have a REALLY amazing lineup of speakers for next week, we're super excited to hear about their work and their journeys through science! 🤩 https://t.co/LHZUaXU9j0
Congratulations Mariana! Not only is she an amazing scientist, but also an incredible advocate for the Diversity Council and we appreciate all her work and support
First years are invited to come to our "How to Choose Your PI" Panel THIS FRIDAY at 12pm! Our senior students will share how they picked their PI and the signs of a good mentor. Come join us in person (in Weill 226) or via Zoom and get all your questions answered
Next up on our CVG Twitter team introductions is Alaa Farghli @fargiggles! Alaa is a Ph.D student in Dr. Praveen Sethupathy’s laboratory @PraveenSethup. He is interested in gene regulation, cell-to-cell communication via exosomes, and taking care of his dog Biggie!
THIS WEEK: We are proud to host @biodiversifying for their seminar on “Inclusive Teaching for LGTBQ+ Students.” Come learn about strategies to discuss sex/gender in an accessible way in bio and genetics classrooms. We especially hope to see faculty attend!
This month’s student spotlight features @SaketBagde! Saket is a 4th year PhD candidate in the Fromme lab. He is interested in studying how complex molecular machines function and regulate a variety of processes in living systems.
MBG Faculty Spotlight: DEI Building Community Faculty Chair - Mariana Wolfner.
