Postdoc position in insect biodiversity at @NCState, awesome project on seasonal activity as it relates to bat diet! https://t.co/s5JzEWcM8B @ColeopSoc @EntCollNet@SysEB_Entsoc @CSE_at_FSCA @Hymenopterists
@birdmoder@SusanFairweathe pet owners have the responsibility to provide the *safe* enrichment our animals require. My childhood cat caused a lot of damage and eventually died by car, I’ll never let that happen again. My own cat now is safe and healthy and has all the toys and space she needs at home.
@birdmoder@SusanFairweathe it would help the cats most of all. So many cats get killed by coyotes/cars or get in fights with other cats or contract disease. My childhood cat wreaked havoc outside! She killed so many snakes and birds and squirrels and got an abcess from getting into a fight. Not worth it :(
@ScrapNaturalist @CrawliesWithCri that, and if it does harm or kill someone, it will more than likely be killed itself, just for acting like a wild animal. But I doubt they will have that animal for longer than a few months before deciding it’s too difficult and dumping it at a rescue. ☹️
Yes, soooo so grateful that we are not the same.
Do not do this, people.
Buying wild animals is unethical, fuels a deeply destructive global trade, and maybe could kill ya. Your giant ego/the likes are not worth the pain you are causing and the industries you are contributing to.
The most precious sign-off from my STEM pen pal in their final letter to me. This made me smile, so I thought you all may appreciate it, too. 🥲
Also, STEM friends, consider being a pen pal with @LettersPreSci! It’s been such a fun and rewarding experience for me. :)

RALEIGH NC please help! I found this dog digging into some roadkill on new hope road and picked him up to keep him from getting hit by a car. Super sweet, collared, no tag, not chipped, not neutered. I’ll take him to the animal center if I don’t hear word back soon so please help
Another update: it didn’t work out with my neighbor, and I unfortunately couldn’t keep this sweet boy at home, so I did take him to the wake county animal center, where hopefully his owner(s) will find him (820 beacon lake drive in Raleigh)
