Humanities and pure sciences

Higher education needs a major revamp, with renewed thrust on the humanities and pure sciences. Today, in Tamil Nadu, there is hardly any university or college that matches central universities such as Jawaharlal Nehru University, University of Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia and English and Foreign Languages University. Humanities and pure sciences alone can produce good teachers, who in turn produce good students and lay a strong foundation for learning. Without strong humanities and pure science departments, universities risk becoming mere training centres rather than institutions of learning.

தமிழ்நாட்டில் திமுகவுக்கு பிறகு புத்தகம் கொடுக்க வேண்டும் என்ற அரசியல் கலாச்சாரத்தை முன்மொழிந்து பேசுவது நல்ல மாற்றம். அதிலும் மால்கம் எக்ஸ் பிறந்த தினம் இன்று, மால்கம் எக்ஸ் குறித்து அமைச்சர் ஆதவ் அர்ஜுனா அவர்கள் சமூக ஊடகத்தில் கருத்து தெரிவித்தது வரவேற்கத்தக்கது, பள்ளிக்கல்வி துறை அமைச்சர் @imrajmohan அவர்கள் பள்ளி பாடப்புத்தகத்தில் மால்கம் எக்ஸ் குறித்த பாடத்தை சேர்க்க வேண்டும் என்று உரிமையுடன் கேட்டு கொள்கிறேன்.

Using a fish market as something “disgusting” to promote your product is not creative — it’s disrespectful. Fish is food. Millions of people depend on it for their livelihood. Fishermen, vendors, and market workers work hard every single day, and this ad reduces their environment to something shameful.

People who eat fish don’t see it as “dirty” or “unbearable.” They go to these markets proudly and buy fresh food for their families. What exactly are you trying to say here?

This is not just marketing — this is humiliation.

You’ve insulted:

Fishermen who risk their lives at sea
Market workers who earn with dignity
And millions of people who consume fish as a staple food
