I was born blind in my left eye.

Doctors said it was permanent.

No repair.
No treatment.
Just acceptance.

I grew up learning sounds instead of colors.
Light instead of shapes.
I adapted.

People stopped mentioning it after a while.
But I never forgot.

Every night I would still cover that eye… just to feel normal for a second.

Years passed like that.

Then one Sunday, something strange happened.

I wasn’t praying for healing.
I had stopped doing that years ago.

I was just standing in church, quiet.

The worship started.
Nothing dramatic.
Just familiar songs.

Then I felt a sharp warmth behind my eye.

I blinked.

Once.
Twice.

Then I saw it.

Light.

Not shapes. Not shadows.
Actual light.

I froze.

I thought I was imagining it.

I stepped outside the church.
Looked at the trees.
The sky.

I saw them.

I broke down right there.

People thought something was wrong with me.

I kept saying, “I can see… I can see.”

They rushed me to the hospital immediately.

The doctor checked my records.
Checked my eyes again.

Then looked at me and sat down slowly.

He whispered,
“This eye has no medical pathway to function.”

Then he paused.

“But it’s seeing perfectly now.”

This is a fabulous accommodation for our brothers and sisters in wheelchairs.

This dock is built for wheelchairs to slide right in so they can fish off the dock comfortably. 💯

I had seen these before but I didn’t know that’s what they were for. Very cool if you ask me.

This kind of planning benefits everyone. Anyone can become disabled. Advocate now because mobility loss will impact someone you love. ❤️

Have you ever seen these before? Do you know someone who is disabled and uses a wheelchair that loves to fish? These are cool. They should be everywhere.
