The zinc price is now the highest it's been in nearly four years, as inventories plummet and supply struggles to keep up with demand.
Prices recently reached over $3,700 per tonne (~$1.68/lb.) on the LME, up over 35% in the past 12 months (see LME chart 👇).... And, during the dog days of summer, when half the world is on holiday, the zinc market is in backwardation. The cash price is trading at a premium to future prices by ~$80 per tonne, which is another strong indicator that there is unrelenting demand (see other LME chart 👇)
Competition for zinc concentrates from smelters is sky-high... Treatment charges (TCs) for zinc imported into China have been below zero since April, recently sinking to as low as NEGATIVE $100 per tonne. In order for zinc smelters to be profitable, they have relied on by-products revenues, such as from sulfuric acid. However, production cuts are rumoured, which is set to further squeeze an already tight market.

July is typically a quiet time of the year for physical copper demand... not this year. There is no other time in recent memory when, during the first two weeks of July, 40,000 to 50,000 tonnes of copper cathode inventories were drawn down in China.
Plus... a massive 25,725 tonnes of copper warrants were cancelled on the LME today (copper marked for physical withdrawal), reducing the net available copper on the LME to 174,675 tonnes - down from 350,850 tonnes on April 30th. In other words, there are only 174,675 tonnes of copper outside China that China can draw on. That's nothing.
This is all incredibly bullish. The copper market is getting tighter and tighter, and it's about to push higher. We have heard traders talking about $20,000 per tonne of copper being on the horizon.
Copper equities are absurdly oversold due to thin summer trading (driven by computers) and they will soon catch up... and IMHO Ivanhoe Mines $IVN.TO is the cheapest of them all. We are making a bottom in the dog days of summer.
Good to see #Manitoba infrastructure making the news. The Churchill port creates opportunities for the Prairie and Arctic provinces to supply the world. @t2metals#copper#gold https://t.co/dfeVnOfRbW

A significant mineral resource alone does not make a successful mining project.
Long-term success often depends on much more than just scale, grade and geological confidence.
Infrastructure, jurisdiction, First Nations partnerships and government support all play an important role in advancing a project from discovery to development.
Located in one of the world’s most prolific VMS regions, T2 Metals’ Sherridon Project in Manitoba, Canada, has all of the above.
In a recent interview with @CapitalJemini, CEO Mark Saxon explains what continues to set Sherridon apart from other copper projects: https://t.co/bT7PwqFEVD

T2 Metals’ #SherridonProject is in Canada’s Flin Flon-Snow Lake Greenstone Belt, one of the world’s most prolific volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) belts and home to several renowned mining districts.
Large VMS deposits typically occur in clusters and host significant amounts of high-grade copper, zinc, lead, and often gold and silver, making multi-resource assets like Sherridon key to a diversified portfolio.
The Flin Flon Belt is a global source of critical and strategic metals, with @HudbayUS, Canada’s third-largest copper producer, as a major operator. Through its acquisition of Foran Mining, @Eldorado_Gold has established a strong foothold in the region and continues to expand into the copper space amid a growing global supply deficit.
In a recent interview with #RadiusResearch’s Martin Gagel, #T2Metals’ Mark Saxon explains why Sherridon remains a core asset, with two historic, past-producing mines and five unmined resources, and how an updated Mineral Resource Estimate will help advance the project toward a development-ready stage.

20 million ounces of gold have been discovered within 20 kilometres of our Shanghai Project in the Yukon.
Prospector Metals’ gold-copper ML Project shares key geological similarities with our nearby Aurora Project, also in the Yukon.
All are located in the Tombstone Gold Belt in Canada, one of the most prolific gold-rich regions in North America.
Shanghai is a high-grade target that’s never been drilled. Aurora is also high-grade and greatly underexplored. Together, they present a prospective portfolio with significant exploration upside.
Shanghai and Aurora have the potential to become major discoveries in the Yukon. Watch @RadiusResearch's Martin Gagel interview #T2Metals’ Mark Saxon to find out why (1:38): https://t.co/QE9RsByJFc
