Jeff Daniels says Jack Nicholson told him on his first day of Terms of Endearment that film is not Broadway, and that is why he shows up ready on take one

"He said, what have you done?"

"And he said, well, this ain't Broadway."

"This is the pro game."

"I just came in ready to serve the story, not you."

Daniels was 28 with one movie behind him, and Nicholson sized him up in a sentence. Plenty of young actors would hear that as a put-down and sulk about it. He heard it as the job description and has been working that way for more than forty years.

You can't blame this loss on Green 'vote splitting'

1. The BC NDP called the early election, so that's 100% on them
2. The Greens support Proportional Representation, so they actually want to fix this system
3. The ONLY vote splits in recent memory were right-wing Liberals splitting the vote in 2011 Federally, and in 2018-2024 Ontario.
4. The BC CON win was so big, even a collapsed Green vote wouldn't have mattered.

The left doesn't split votes: Liberals do, and moderates are the ones who elect right-wing governments.

@RichardLBennett Yes. It's an offence with, I guess, a Summary Conviction - to not complete the Census Form. Shouldn't voting hold the same penalty or higher. I think Australia has mandatory voting & are given the day off & have that tradition of BBQ parties in the parking lots of voting stations
