On Tuesday @harpreetkuppal, MP for Huddersfield, tabled a timely and vital Westminster Hall debate on access to universal and targeted youth provision that had lots of support from MPs championing this agenda across the House.
The debate highlighted that youth work plays a crucial role in the mental wellbeing of young people, the need for trauma-informed interventions, discussed the importance of rebuilding the youth sector workforce and the need to have sufficient youth provision in every place. We are grateful to all the parliamentarians who contributed to this important debate.

We had an amazing 33 attend our 'Young Worker Training' over the weekend.
Activities included a youth worker mocktail, building blocks of youth work, 12 week planning, DEI, safeguarding, team games and campfire.
Huge well done to them all, look out for them in our projects!
This morning, @mrjamesob dedicated a substantial portion of his @LBC breakfast show to discussing the broader societal impacts of youth service closures.
After sharing key findings from a recent @TheIFS study, James took calls and messages from listeners who shared life-changing experiences with youth clubs and youth workers, highlighting how these services had expanded their opportunities.

At our panel discussion at the Labour Party Conference yesterday, we explored how we can build opportunities for young people and restore the youth workforce to enable high quality, sufficient and effective youth services in every place.
Rachel de Souza, @ChildrensComm for England highlighted the need for sustainable funding:
βIt's not that there aren't enough jobs, it's sustainable funding.
So we need a longterm strategy to give great youth workers the stability and confidence to stay in the profession.β
The NYAβs strategic focus is on engaging government departments in the case for youth work, connecting with allied sectors across health, schools, justice and sport.
