A new era in the fight against PRRS.
For the first time, a genetic solution to PRRS is here: PIC has received FDA approval for the gene edit used in its PRRS-resistant pig, determining the technology is safe and effective.
PRRS is one of the most devastating diseases in global pork production, not only impacting animal welfare, but increasing the need for antibiotics and the environmental impact of raising pigs. This FDA-approved disease resistant technology provides a path toward removing PRRS and creating a healthier, more sustainable industry.
➡️ What’s next for pork producers?
“We are committed to the responsible and intentional introduction of the PRRS-resistant pig around the globe. Gaining FDA approval for the technology is an important step in this process, and we are working with additional countries to gain regulatory approval and protect global trade prior to initiating sales and delivery,” said Matt Culbertson, PIC’s Chief Operating Officer.

Had an informative meeting with @MarkCham69 and @JanetKrayden1, representing #cdnag concerns. The NDP-Liberals’ carbon tax is hurting our farmers and producers and it’s only going to get worse on April 1st with the latest 23% tax hike. Is Justin Trudeau purposefully trying to drive the farm families who feed Canadians out of business? Sure looks that way! #AxeTheTax
Another warning about Trudeau’s proposed radical plastics ban from the Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Growers, @ongreenhouseveg. One of the worst policies yet to come from Trudeau’s radical Environment Minister. Enough of this nonsense, #CanTheBan!
Great meeting with @Lianne_Rood discussing the challenges of the TFWP and the cost to agribusiness of the carbon tax. The cost to our company this year on nat gas 1.2 million $ to produce food for Canadians. Scrap the tax.

Dr. Sylvain Charlebois expl at HoC Finance Committee, “The challenge w/ the carbon tax at #cdnag farmgate is that farmers have no ability to pass on extra costs to their clients. That's being recognized by Bill C-234. So that’s why I am hoping that it's going to pass.” #CarbonTax
It's a great day for the Ontario pork industry as we celebrate the grand opening of the new Ontario Swine Research Centre. This facility will help enhance research and innovation across our sector, benefiting current and future generations of pork producers in producing a food source high in protein.
