Inspirado no post do meu amigo @jgabrielgarcez, que discute a distorção na representatividade popular no federalismo brasileiro, calculei o índice de razão de representação para todos os estados brasileiros e também para EUA, Austrália e Canadá.

O resultado é bastante claro no caso de São Paulo: não apenas é o estado com pior representatividade, dado o tamanho de sua população no Brasil, como também apresenta desempenho inferior quando comparado a outros estados nos demais países selecionados. Isso é válido para ambas as casas do Legislativo.

Parte da crise de representatividade no Brasil está intimamente ligada às regras de representação federativa.

São Paulo é o maior estado em termos populacionais entre esses quatro países. Curiosamente, é aquele que, proporcionalmente, tem menor força política em relação à sua população no Congresso.
